Drums, writing music, vegan food, playing shows with Mankind Is Obsolete, Dismantled, Psyclon Nine, Christopher Anton "Former Information Society Singer," 101 "my Depeche Mode cover band," Hate Dept or Pseudocipher, going to shows, cooking, reading biographies about musicians that interest me, watching movies, ocean kayaking, Alaska "I haven't been there, but I plan on moving to Barrow Alaska someday...okay maybe not mover there, but I gotta go there." I like to look at maps too... I have a lot of strange things that interest me. I look up exotic plants online...durians excite me and so do bizarre fruits from SE Asia.

*Basically bands and artists that evoke strong emotional responses inside of me or have had some sort of an effect on me musically.
Movies
I tend to like films by these guys: Stanley Kubrick, John Waters, Tim Burton, David Lynch. I also like a lot of comedy, horror, sci-fi, anime, and b-films. I think Ben Stiller is funny as hell in movies like Dodgeball, Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch. I am into Blade Runner like any person who wants gain industrial points should. I love cats and dogs but I tend to hate movies that focus on a talking cat or dog. It usually just pisses me off. To be continued..
Television
Beavis and Butthead, The Discovery Channel, The Food Network, The Travel Channel. I only watch TV for a couple days out of the year when I visit my family. I don't have cable and I never watch TV aside from my yearly visit to Ohio.
Books
I read the dictionary because I suck at spelling. I wish I had time for these ancient artifacts. It has been a while. My favorite book growing up was Benny Bakes a Cake. I like cake.
Heroes
Bands like WASP, NIN, Gun's N' Roses, Skinny Puppy, Neurosis, Gwar, Manowar because they're the loudest band in the world....The bassist of White Lion because I thought having a red bass looked cool in the "Tell Me" video so that made me want to play bass initially. Also, I'll have to admit George Michael was an influence because I wanted to start playing music after I saw that video for "I want your Sex" when I was like 4 years old or something. My main hero is Dr. Rockso though. One more thing too, this would be pretty cool if it happened at one of my shows.
I play drums, write music, and play in a few different bands. My main focus is on "Mankind Is Obsolete" www.myspace.com/mankindisobsolete
I also drum for Psyclon Nine, kidneythieves, Dismantled, Christopher Anton "Information Society," Hate Dept, 101 "A Depeche Mode cover band" and Pseudocipher. I have also filled in drums for The Hollywood 77's which features original Misfits drummer Joey Image. I used to drive a van that a lot of people are afraid of including my band because we tour in it and I only paid $700. It is a rickety piece of crap that idles kinda funny and the kicker is that looks like a child molester van but it doesn't have that moon window on the side that is a dead give-a-way. I might post a pic sometime. Someone bought it last year because it was the same model the A Team used and this guy was a fanatic. He flew out from Austin, TX the day I posted an ad in Craig's List and bought it for $1300, so I actually made money from having the van. I have had many fond moments with that van though. I remember the sour looks we'd get as we'd roll up to a venue in that ride. It was pretty funny and scary at the same time when we couldn't turn left in the van. The owner before must have been on meth while working on the van in the front yard one day because he welded some sort of metal fixture near the driver side wheel which caused the van to be unable to turn left more than at a 10 degree angle. We still drove on it though and had to make three rights in order to make a left. In addition to that, the turn signal only worked if we had a screw driver or a large enough coin to make it happen. My last fond memory is us running out of gas on the Grape Vine going to Merced, CA. The van could only do 10 mph up mountains and would shake quite a bit as if it we're going to die any minute. I definitely had to reconsider any faith in a higher power I may have once had when we made it to the top. I'll definitely miss that van. I now am the proud owner of one of those sweet tour vans you see "big deal" bands touring around in. Rock on!
Who I'd like to meet: People that I respect and look up to.
oh man, I'm not going ANYWHERE tonight. I only got 2 hours of sleep and got up at 8am to do yardwork on a house that wasn't EVEN MINE. but maybe next week if there's anything cool going on. Might come to the area early and check out the restaurant you work at :)
Aw, such a busy life. I hope you'll come to Belgium with Psyclon Nine haha, it's my dream to see you live. :') Rather sick, I know, but it's like that. And you're welcome!
i always have pain in my legs. I stand too much. But i am now going to this awesome guy who is helping that :) he is a massage therapist who has been doing deep tissue. Which i have never had a massage before, so for him to just push really hard and start moving muscles and tendons to where they are supposed to go kinda hurts.... a lot. lol. All in good time though. :)
Well, Jon, I'm doing quite splendidly. So splendid, I might even say SCHPLENDID. I mean, there was an avocado in my life today ... mmmm ... how can one not be well with an avocado in one's tummy?
well thats good who are u touring with? and me im good just eh kinda hung over and tired ive been up all night partying with friends and im still kicking im not even buzzing or anything
ya, :/ so far its pretty annoying. i could work my hands but try and add the feet and they do the same thing the hands are doing. I guess it doesn't help that i'm always at work and have to stand all day lol. I've perfected the art of drumming with pen's and soda cans though.
Jon, you never cease to be busy. Good to know that you're being productive, though. I do hope you enjoy it. Things have been wacky around here, but going good now. Found out a few weeks ago that I'm gonna be a mom. Its a trip, let me tell you, lol. Come March you'll have a new fan. :) Have fun touring and be safe! *hugs*
i have kind of a funky question for you actually mr. johnny 5. When you started playing the drums how did you split your brain so that your feet and hands did different beats? or did it come natural? i am having the hardest time with that.
