IN ENGLISH:I was Born in Gorliz (Biscaye) my mother is french and my father is spanish.I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old. When I was a teenager I played in different rock and blues bands and dedicated all my time out of school playing and listening to music, studying piano with Paloma Aristegui & Mercedes Albaina among others. When I was 18 I graduated from highschool, and then I went on to to study jazz and modern music at the “College for the Arts Arnhem”ARTEZ in Netherlands, a Music Degree that didn..t exist in Spain at that time. There I studied with such great pianists as Rob van der Broek, Robert-Jan Vermeulen and Hans Kwakkernatt among others. At age 21 I moved s to Paris, and enrolled at the 2nd year Of the Musicology Department at the Sorbonne University. Meanwhile I was playing weekly with my trio at the club “La goutte d..or”, in the Barbes Neighborhood. I aslo performed in other clubs such as the Sunset, Cithea, and was touring in France with jazz and latin bands. At age 22, after auditioning at the American School for modern music, I got a scholarship to attend Berklee College in Boston. I moved to Boston in September ..97 to attend Berklee, I was studying in an elite with many great musicians such as Rai Santisi, Laszlo Gardony, Paul Schmeling. When I was in Boston I had prívate lessons with many great Boston based pianists such as Allain Mallet, Danilo Perez and Alon Yavnai. I graduated from Berklee in december ..00 with a Degree in Jazz Performance “Cum Laude”. The same year I returned to Spain where he..s been living at different times in the Basque country, Madrid and Barcelona. I got to play and or record with such great and stylistically diverse musicians as George Garzone, Giovanni Hidalgo, Billy Pierce, Yosvanny Terry, Sunny Murray, Perico Sambeat, Francisco Mela, Oscar Stagnaro,Victor Celada,Tato Gracia, Ferenc Nemeth, David Mengual, Thomas Walter, Mario Rossy, Patrick Cornelius, Jaleel Shaw, Jorge Pardo,Borja Barrueta, Mark Small, Jordi Bonell, Joan Diaz, Jo Krause, Andrejz Olejcnizak, Mikel Andueza, Miguel Blanco & “La calle caliente”, “Filhos de Ogum”, Paulinho Lehmos, “Pies en la tierra” ,to name a few. I..ve worked in various Cd recordings and multimedia projects as a producer/arranger using mainly Logic software. I have been touring and playing gigs beneath Spain and France in Netherlands, Germany, USA, Ecuador, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland. I have recorded several CD..s as a líder, including some the musicians named above, Like “Bilbao Blues”..99, “Latin & Blue” ..00, “Homemade” ..03, “Solos & Duets” ..07 In the educational field he has held multiple masterclasses in the instrumental fields of piano and band leading, in the styles of Jazz and Latin styles mainly. I have tought piano and combo lessons in the following schools: “Public music school Andres Isasi” in Getxo, Biscaye, “College of Music Andres Sarasate “ in Pamplona, Navarra, “El Aula de Jazz y Música Moderna” in Barcelona, (BIN), Artebi,(Multidisciplinary Center for The Arts in Bilbao, Biscaye). At the present time I..m teaching at the recently created department of modern music at the The public Conservatory of San Sebastian, named after the composer Francisco Escudero. I recorded my new CD in NY this summer, featuring a lot of friends and study mates, which should be out this winter! EN ESPAÑOL:Sobre Jon Urrutia Monnot Nacido en Gorliz (Vizcaya) de madre francesa y padre español. Estudia Piano desde temprana edad.En su adolescencia toca en diversos grupos y dedica su tiempo libre a escuchar discos y a todo lo relacionado con la música.Durante esta época estudia piano con Paloma Aristegui y Mercedes Albaina entre otros. A los 18 años, tras concluír la selectividad se va a estudiar jazz y música moderna al “College for the Arts Arnhem”, carrera entonces inexistente en España, estudiando piano con Rob van der Broek, Robert Jan Vermeulen y Hans Kwakkernatt, entre otros.A los 21, se muda a Paris, inscribiendose en 2ndº de musicologia en la Sorbona y estudiando piano en la “Bill Evans piano academy” y en el conservatorio “Nadia et Lily Boulanger” con el maestro Bernard Maury.Igualmente toca semanalmente con su trío junto a Sebastien Gastine y Joe Quitzque en el club “La goutte d..or” en Barbes entre otros. A los 22, y tras recibir una beca del “Berklee College of Music” tras una audición en la “American school of music”(BIN) parte hacia Boston, donde toma clases de piano con Rai Santisi,Laszlo Gardony,Paul Schmeling,Danilo Perez, Allain Mallet y Alon Yavnai, entre otros. Se gradua del Berklee College of Music en diciembre del 2000 con honores (Cum Laude). Vuelve el mismo año a España, residiendo por temporadas en el País Vasco, Madrid y Barcelona. Tiene la suerte de tocar y o grabar con músicos y grupos de diferentes tendencias estilisticas de la talla de George Garzone,Oscar Stagnaro,Giovanni Hidalgo, Billy Pierce, Yosvanny Terry, Sunny Murray,Perico Sambeat, Francisco Mela, Victor Celada, David Mengual, Thomas Walter,Mario Rossy,Patrick Cornelius,Ferenc Nemeth, Jaleel Shaw, Jorge Pardo, Mark Small, Bill Pierce, Jordi Bonell, Joan Diaz, Jo Krause, La Calle Caliente, Filhos de Ogum, Agustín Gereñu, Paulinho Lemos, Mustafa Bouchou,..... Participa también en varios proyectos como arreglista,compositor y productor.Actua aparte de en España en paises como Francia, Holanda, Alemania, USA,Ecuador, Portugal, Italia, Suiza,... Graba varios discos como lider, entre los que destacan “Bilbao Blues” ..99, “Latin &Blue” ..00 “Homemade “..03, “Solos & Duets” ..07 En el campo de la docencia ha impartido multiples seminarios de piano y conjunto, en los estilos de jazz, música latína y otras tendencias, y ha sido profesor en los siguientes centros: Conservatorio municipal “Andres Isasi” de Getxo,Conservatorio Superior “Pablo Sarasate” de Pamplona, “El Aula de jazz y música moderna en Barcelona “(BIN), ARTEBI (Bilbao) Actualmente es profesor de teclado moderno y conjunto en el recientemente creado grado medio del conservatorio “Francisco Escudero” de Donostia-San Sebastián ( www.myspace.com/departamentodemusicamoderna ). Il obtient son Bachelor de la “Berklee College of Music” en decembre 2000 avec la mention “Cum Laude”. La même année il rentre en Espagne, où il réside dans le Pays Basque, à Madrid et à Barcelone. Comme professeur et pédagogue il a participé à de séminaires de piano et ensemble, dans les styles de jazz, musique latine et autres . Il a exercé comme prof dans les centres suivants: Conservatoire municipal “Andres Isasi” de Getxo,Conservatoire Superieur “Pablo Sarasate” de Pamplona, “El Aula de jazz y música moderna” de Barcelone “(BIN), ARTEBI (Bilbao).
