BIG NEWS! BLUGRUNGE CD is FINALLY OUT, ON CDBaby.com, soon in ITUNES and SNOCAP; the BlueGrunge SESSIONS 07 were "Salvage Sessions," music compiled by New York and Long Island artists, for publisher demos and other projects, by some of the BEST indie rising stars in the LI & Metro New York area. For example, the voices /songwriters include:
LEX GREY, who triumphed in the Great South Bay Copiague festival this summer. She’s the great Brooklyn/LI female blues maven/musician and prolific songwriter (Urban Pioneers , nee in Williamsburg with slide pro Vic Deyglio --regulars at LI’s Riverhead BluesFestival.org) and also astonishingly, composer of the iXilion Burlesque sound track at Mo Pitkins. see WWW.lexgreymusic.com and myspace.com/lexgreyandtheurbanpioneers for great band video footage in Washington DC and NYC. Lex's classic and modern take on the blues is plentifully represented on five albums on CDBaby.com, the unbreakable spirit of Mae West on a Harley, with a kicking, electrifying style!
LORRAINE FERRO, NYC's ..multi platinum..(myspace.com/LoudlifeBand)
inspirational AND goth-metal singer/songwriter and producer.
Maria Baugh, percussionist and singer with the cult 90's group,
the Anne Sexton-titled band Elizabeth Gone. Also, a former editor at... Teen People!
Native Long Islander NY Drummer FRANK PATTERSON (currently, LiL' Cliff
and the Cliffhangers, heard live recently on WUSB, Stonybrook) long active in the LI music scene professionally, and just returned from a world tour to China with Alt Country LI artist Mary Lamont. Frank co-wrote the opening track, TRY, providing smooth jamband grooves for Lex’s inciting vocals.
The guitar roster reads like a roadmap to some of the best players on Long Island and NYC.
Bob Stander (Sessions producer/player with Caroline Docterow, Kung Fu Girls, the legendary Annie Golden, Frank Carillo and the Bandoleros, and other seminal NYC acts, including rising painter/songwriting star Patty Rothberg); Myspace.com/bobstander2
Jim Santo (The SharpThings.com, Jennifer Convertible, and the DemoUniverse.com web designer)
Vick Deyglio (Lead player/writer for Lex Grey and The Urban Pioneers, and session engineer for legends like Lou Reed at Record Plant) Myspace.com/lexgreyandtheurbanpioneers
John Canale (The RockAholics, KillingmeSoftlees, The Haneys, and other indie groups haunting our engrams of the legendary CBGB's)
Tracks were often written on-the-fly during the sessions which were salvaged in such diverse locales as Deyglio/Grey's Williamsberg Brooklyn's Shabbey Road Studios, and Long Island's VuDuStudios.com (On-the-fly proved difficult, as it provided a small, nervous, writing surface, and so we switched to legal paper.)
Songs written in real-time anxiety included:
The Motorman, loosely based on a Boston transit legend, which has run on KABC in Los Angeles by broadcast legend Leon Kaplan, also known as the (automotive) Motorman, and a lover of all things blues, including the Urban Pioneers.
The Sylvia track, which is based on the poems in Sylvia Plath’s Ariel, and loops pure sounds and guitars together. We'v put an instrumental version on for daring listeners/djs to read over with their own selected poems.
Throughout, Williamsburg blues diva Lex Grey’s vocals set a tone, elevate the energy, via her backups on 2 tracks and leads on the first two cuts, Try and Motorman

Yes, hurray (Brecht quote), not only are we in talks with an MAJOR dance label, and we are charting up five points to number 32 this week, but we've been top 40 at 50 clubs for a month.
AND, great news, Walt's cool pod guitar is now up on Amazon with an amazing vocal rendition of Real Love (Spanglish 2010 for you globalistas). So we hope you'lll support the artists, and for old times sake, go to Amazon and download either Kisses in the Dark or Amor Real. Help keep BlueGruv cheerful not "blu," (it'll improve our spelling), and thanks again.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4

Hey, there! I toured with Neil for several years and am on the first six tracks of his new album. I was at Joe's Pub for 2 of his solo performances. We remain good friends and I still keep in touch with his band on a regular basis.
Hope all's well!
Best,
Emily
Hey Jon! Thanks for the ad and your gracious comments. You've been a great friend for the better part of my life. You also taught me how to play "I go home" by Alvin Lee before anyone could play that fast! Hopefully, we'll see each other soon. I'm working on new material these days and I'll let you know when I upload anything.
