When it comes to the term "triple-threat," the artist known as Jonyfraze
makes it sound like an understatement. More popularly known in the early days
of his career as a turntablist, many accolades were bestowed on the Jersey native
with the W's to show for it.
But in his eyes it did not stop at one element. As he began recording his debut
album with group Organic Thoughts entitled, "The Purest Form," he
did not hang up his turntables. Nor did he through away his records or needles.
Instead, "Fraze" as he is also known, honed his skills on the microphone. Simultaneously, he began perfecting his production skills, a task made easy from his roots as a turntablist.
As a result, Organic Thoughts scored a CMJ top ten hit in 2004 with "The
Purest Form," a unique fusion of soul, jazz, and true-school hip-hop, which
earned high praises from the underground hip-hop community.
Intertwining emceeing, production and cherry topping many of the tracks with
his battle class cuts, Fraze caught the attention of many ears. Many of those
same listeners adhered to his homegrown yet unique sense of sound.
With all the factual evidence to prove his worth in the game, Jonyfraze comes
into the game like a three-pronged spear... each point is as sharp as the next,
yet the victim can not predict what they will be hit with first. Fortunately,
hip-hop fans will be attacked by a pleasing blow to the head.
JONYFRAZE vs NINA SIMONE: This is a little project i been workin on for a minute now. I've been a big fan of Nina's music for a long time.
Every once in awhile I would come across a Nina record which i had to flip just for fun. So I decided to put it all together in a compilation: 8 instrumentals with a few interludes thrown in. Running time is about 20 min.
If any of yall emcees wants to take a stab at recording verses for it - go for it! Def send me a copy!
If you are diggin this project or any of my other music / projects and would like to help a brotha out, please feel free make a donation by clicking on the link below. Any support would be appreciated!

Fraze
