About Jo O'Malley

Joanne began song writing in 1999; her music being influenced by Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Joan Armatrading and Pattie Smith. In the summer of 2000 Jo joined other musicians playing covers at various venues around Northamptonshire. Six years on she now regularly performs her own material at small festivals and acoustic venues, often with input from Kontra Band. Her CDs "Onwards and Upwards" and "Freedom" have been created and inspired by her own healing with each song telling its own story. Her music has been classed as acoustic folk and likened to that of Suzanne Vega and Christy Moore. Her performance and voice have attracted such comments as "Sings like an Angel" "Full of expression and character" and "Sings from the heart"

Free Entry This is the second of the a new monthly showcase at Sawyers , Montagu St, Kettering. They run first weds of the month and feature half hour sets from the cream of Northants songwriters plus an out of county act.
