Charnofsky holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in
Classical Guitar Performance from the University of
Southern California Thornton School of Music. He holds
minors in Early (Ancient) Music and Music Education. He was
honored by the faculty as The Outstanding Doctoral Degree
Graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music. He
also holds the Master of Music degree from USC and the
Bachelor of Music degree from CSUN. Jordan is the winner of
the USC Guitar Concerto Competition. From 1995 to 2004, he
maintained the position of Musical Artist-in-Residence at
the Brandeis-Bardin Institute in Simi Valley.
As a featured soloist with symphony orchestras, to solo
performances on television shows, to performances in Japan
and Russia, Charnofsky excels as a solo performer and
ensemble musician. He is a founder and the producer of the
world music groupHollywood Klezmer. He is also
a founder (with vocalist Vanessa Paloma) and producer of
the Sephardic (Judeo-Spanish) music group,Flor de Serena. He
frequently performs in a duet with flutistDr. Martin
Glicklich. Jordan has
taught for The USC Thornton School of Music, The Los
Angeles Jewish Symphony, The University of Judaism,
Cerritos College and Moorpark College.
The Columbia Music Company has published Jordan's original
guitar compositions, including Divertimento & Sonho do
Mar.Theodore Presser Co.is the
distributor of these works. Jordan was commissioned by
The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet to specially arrange
three traditionalKlezmer
Dancesfor them.
The L.A. Guitar Quartet has recorded theKlezmer Dances(Tracks 6-8)on their top

With six years of live entertaining at the Academy Awards
in Los Angeles (at the Shrine Auditorium, the Dorothy
Chandler Pavilion and the Kodak Theater),on-stage
accompanyingLuciano Pavarottiin Staples
Center, being featured with his group in the Playboy
Jazz Festival, to being featured in the World Festival
of Sacred Music, Jordan leads a very diverse and unique
musical performing career. Since 2003 he has served as
guitarist for the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra.
Jordan has served as a guitar competition adjudicator for
the American String Teachers Association Guitar
Competition, and for the USC Guitar Concerto Competition.
Professional affiliations include: Professional Musicians
Local 47 (American Federation of Musicians, AFM), The
American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
(ASCAP), The American String Teachers Association (ASTA),
and The Guitar Foundation of America (GFA). Jordan

Jordan was instrumental in compiling Volume I of the Vahdah
Olcott Bickford Guitar Music Library Catalogue, under the
direction of Dr. Ronald C. Purcell. He spent fourteen
months computer cataloguing, researching, and helping to
organize this important collection of early 19th- through
20th- century first editions and rare manuscripts. The
collection is now known asThe International Guitar Research
Archive.
