Jorge-Luis Pallo Thank you to everyone that came to our Charity party last night! We raised a boat load of Toys 4 Tots and Donations 4 Hollywood Heart!
Born in New York and raised in Queens, Ecuadorian and Puerto Rican Pallo was known as the "parochial-school punk." He and his sister Pat were raised by their single mom, a once-aspiring singer who never quite figured out how to pursue a career in show business. Having missed out on her opportunity, Mom encouraged the kids to follow their dreams, and enrolled her children in theatre, dance and guitar lessons. Fully prepared, Jorge made his grammar-school stage debut in "The Nutcracker." He later starred in high school productions of "Into the Woods" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" Jorge was accepted to NYU's theatre program due to an outstanding essay and performance audition, but it wasn't until his junior year in a Summer Stock production of "A Few Good Men," directed by his mentor Bob Moss, that Jorge really connected with what would be his future career. Playing Pfc. William T. Santiago changed everything. After graduation, he toiled in Off-Broadway productions and joined the Latino sketch comedy group "Vaso de Leche." A friend introduced him to his first manager who urged him to move to Los Angeles to further his career. LA was not very welcoming at first, but he felt he found a home while teaching acting classes at Scott Sedita Studios. A chance meeting with a fraternity brother and director at a Texas Hold 'Em poker game won him six days of work on the director's film, which got him SAG card. Soon after Jorge booked a series of credible high-profile roles. His first television job was as a guest star on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, followed by a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation of Missing Pieces, starring James Coburn. In feature film he worked on Minority Report, War of the Worlds, and Lions for Lambs. Jorge say the highlight, of course, was working with Spielberg. Jorge's other television episodic work includes: NYPD Blue, several episodes of Resurrection Blvd., The Shield, The Unit, 24, and more. From snowboarding to karate, Jorge enjoys a variety of sports. After tearing a ligament in his knee doing Tae Kwon Do, he finally had to have an operation. He has recently taken up a form of Israeli Marshal Arts called Krav Maga, which he calls "fun, brutal street fighting." Jorge has returned to his music roots by taking guitar and voice lessons. This self-described "rock-and-roll" guy is influenced by The Beatles, U2, Led Zeppelin, Sinatra, and even his "look-alike," Usher. Jorge's "family" in LA includes his two rescue dogs: a black and tan Husky/Shepperd pup, El Rey and a lab/shepherd mix, Estrella. Toys for Tots and Hollywood Heart are two charities that are near to his "heart" because "being of service matters." This year he will co-host his 6th annual cocktail party to gather toys for kids for Christmas.

Los Angeles - On Saturday April 25th, animal lovers and pet-parents throughout Los Angeles will head to Venice Beach with their four-legged friends in tow (those without pets are welcome to walk too!) to participate in the ASPCA's first annual 'Go Orange for Animals' 1.5k 'Wag-n-Walk'. The 1.5 mile dog walk will begin at 11:00 am at the Windward Plaza area of Venice Beach (1800 Oceanfront Walk, Venice Beach, CA 90291). Registration will begin at 9:30am on Ocean Front Walk across from Windward Plaza. All registered walkers will receive an ASPCA T-shirt and a bandana for their canine counterpart. Immediately following the walk, walk participants and the general public will be invited to enjoy a celebration featuring adoptable animals from Los Angeles rescue group, Bark Avenue Foundation, a remote radio broadcast and giveaways from L.A. stations, KOST and KTLK, ASPCA experts, refreshments, activities for people and dogs, drawings, photos, prizes and more! For more information and to register for the Los Angeles Wag-n-Walk, please visit www.aspcaambassadors.org.
This is a fun, safe and easy way to bring the L.A. community together to raise awareness for America's adoptable pets. The money we raise will help the ASPCA provide charity care for the thousands of abused and homeless pets that find their way to our animal hospital.
Your continued dedication will mean that we will be able to match thousands of homeless animals with loving families. Your support of the ASPCA is the single most effective way to help animals in need.
