About Jose Pepo Saavedra

This Puerto Rican singer songwriter has been developing his musical career and style following the tradition of Latin-American song and the musical genre known as Nueva Cancion for the last ten years. Back in 1993 Pepo started writing songs that attempted to paint the Puerto Rican reality of the time. Now living in Tucson, AZ he continues trying to combine his music while participating actively in community action movements related to human rights, farm workers, and social justice. Pancho Lorenz	Jan 17 2009 1:37 AM El hábito del detenimiento Si vas a hacer lo que se te pega tu chingada gana, procura poner el acento en las ganas y no en la necesidad de hacerlo; pues no siempre nuestras ocurrencias son obligadamente un resultado interesante en la acción. Los caprichos y la estupidez siempre buscan la forma de cristalizarse a costa de lo que sea; a veces el detenimiento es el mejor tamiz para que el tiempo respire y abrigue de aire lo cerril y el disparate. Cuánta barbaridad ahorrada si, sin que desenfrenadamente buscaras la trascendencia, amainaras tu chingada gana con un poco de ponderación, sólo verterla en el archivo de tu propia memoria y metabolizarla allí. Hasta las “grandes ideas” hay que confinarlas a tres días de cama para que alivien, pues no hay idea que no nazca enferma, al menos un poco, de individualismo voraz. Si bien sabemos que a tu libertad no la detiene ninguna aduana de responsabilidad, sería mucho pedir el cese al fuego a lo tuyo, a la tuya, a tu chingada gana, a que no haga acto de presencia donde existe el hábito de no chingar lo demás?.
