Bonjour! Thank you very much for visiting my myspace page and for reading these few lines. I know it would probably look more professional to write this bio in the third person, but I obviously write my bio myself so why try to pretend? I am not good at pretending… My dad is an actor and he tried to teach me when I was a kid but I could never take myself seriously and any time I try to imitate somebody, I end up using the same high pitched voice for everyone even if I am supposedly imitating a guy… oh well!
So about my path… I left Paris at the age of 17 and landed in the bilingual city of Montréal in Canada, with the big but unformulated dream of a music career (People always tell me: “Why would you ever want to leave Paris??? It is the most beautiful city in the world!” Well yes, but I dreamed of American music and I wanted to get to the heart of it…). The couple of years I spent in Montréal were a stepping-stone, a transition for growth and preparation before moving to the city that I had always viewed as the music capital of the world: New York.
Montréal gave me my first stage experiences and introduced me to a whole new world of music. I was thrilled to join The People’s Gospel Choir of Montréal and was a part of their Vibe Award winning album. During that time, I also recorded songs for film and a television commercial in France for the Narta products (French people will think it’s cool… ;-))
As soon as I arrived in New York, I knew that I was in the right place and quickly found my way in the local New York music scene. I co-wrote and recorded my first album, Unfinished Life, with singer/songwriter Craig Wilson. The album was released in November 2007. Since then, I have been playing my songs all over New York in venues such as The Bitter End, The Living Room, Caffé Vivaldi, as well as at many outdoor festivals in and out of the city… I appeared on a few local television shows and some of my songs were played on many online radios and podcasts. I was also given the opportunity to shoot a music video for my Franco-English song, “I Think Of You”!
Meanwhile, I have been writing a lot and I have recently gone back into the studio with the intention to release a new EP in the Fall. The songs that are now up are just a sample of what is coming…
A bit about my musical style:
“Joséphine is an obvious romantic and sings with sweetness and hope although a certain melancholy and awareness of life’s pains and difficulties show her sensitivity in most of her songs. They have been described as “Sweetly sung, counting up regrets (…)” (Scroll down for more quotes)
I strive to write songs that are an honest representation of who I am, and even though I try my best to sound like an American when I speak (it confuses people a lot) regularly when I sing, you will hear a persisting little French accent…

Wow! That word comes to mind once the vocals came on, talk about pure talent!
Review by Wildy's World of May 16, 2008
Joséphine brings a certain grit and vivacity to her music that is belied by her little-girl looks. To say I was pleasantly surprised by her CD Unfinished Life is an understatement. (…)
Joséphine offers up twelve very mature and emotionally honest songs on Unfinished Life. Songs range from ballad to soul-influenced rock. (…)
All in all there is not a weak song here, and there is life in these songs that would seem to belie a mischievous and fun streak in the artist. It is a talent to be able to project these traits into recorded media on a consistent basis. If Joséphine can project these traits live then her concerts will be a treat worth lining up for. (…)
The texture of Joséphine's voice would make her interesting to listen to if she were singing names out of the phonebook.
Joséphine is a very talented and worthy artist, and Unfinished Life is very much worth a listen or six. I highly recommend Joséphine’s Unfinished Life to my readers.

I played "Meant To Fly" on episode 90 of Indie Music Sampler. There's always room on my program for a good "na na na" song. I love the album title "Unfinished Life" too. I just like her energy and presentation.

Unfinished Life is a great album of poppy folky sounding songs. Love "Meant to fly" a really catchy pop track. I Think of you (je pense a toi) is a lovely ballad; The French bits make it sound kinda sensual; great track. Her French accent comes out on "Bit by bit" but its another great ballad. “Stronger" is a bit faster and bit more rocky.... Great guitar… love it. Great vocalist and songwriter. Great album.
