About me:

Hi! My name's JOE MATT. I'm an autobiographical comic book writer/artist. I basically have four books in existence, and they're all published by Drawn & Quarterly Publications. The four titles are: 1) PEEPSHOW: The CARTOON DIARY OF JOE MATT 2) THE POOR BASTARD 3) FAIR WEATHER 4) SPENT. All of my books can be found at: www.drawnandquarterly.com Please find my name under "artists." What else? I'm currently still working on my latest book, which is basically about my life since moving to Los Angeles in 2003. I also hope to collect the best of my numerous "jam sketchbooks," which are basically one-page comic strips that I do with other people. I alternate the panels with my collaborators, much like the "exquisite corpse" game. And...while I do occasionally check this profile, the bulk of my computer time is spent on Facebook, where I only add my closest friends and relatives. But...my readers DO mean the world to me and I'll always do my best to accommodate each and every one of you. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of you for your support. Without you, God only knows what the hell I'd be doing for a living! Sincerely--thank you. MYFLYPROFILE.NET

My graphic novel HAUNTED is now available for preorder at your
local comic shop. The easiest way to describe it is "Goonies in a
haunted house." You can check it out at www.hauntedcomic.com

Haunted won the Xeric award established by Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtle co-creator Peter Laird. If you like what you see please ask your
comic shop to order it and be sure to tell any friends you think would like it.

I'm an indy creator so every bit of support makes a difference. Thanks for

    checking Haunted out.

Thank you all for the  birthday wishes! And Adam, sorry to disappoint you, but I am not married. I am in love, however, and to me, that's synonymous with being married. I also list my status as "married" just to keep the girls at bay.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I must go pick up my birthday suit at the dry-cleaners.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

i've been studying 'spent' as part of a research paper and reading bukowski in my spare time. i may have overestimated my mettle. between you, brunetti and bukowski i feel psychically damaged.
p.s. the line work in spent is niiiice.

Married? Really? When did this happen...and who is the exceptionally lucky girl? I do find it disheartening that your details specify that you don't want kids, since I think you would be an extremely fun dad...if you had a son. A daughter, I dunno. Then again your son might grow up to be an idiotic alpha-male football jock, conservative Christian or anti-underground-comics crusader just to spite you. I mean, for fuck's sake! I recently reread Poor Bastard and Peepshow...I never get tired of reading them. God, your characterization of "Andy" is absolutely hilarious! And the whole "I only date musicians!" thing as well...If I had the skill or the time, I would love to do some parody of your work in a bizarre alternate universe, with a long-haired, hipster musician protagonist who's constantly getting his girlfriends stolen away by cartoonists.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
