The Greatest Author in the World/Dr. Joseph Suglia's Blurbs
About me:

Steve Balderson's Watch Out -- the film inspired by my novel -- was nominated for Best Picture at Raindance.

Watch Out is alive.

* * * * * * * * * *

My name is Dr. Joseph Suglia.

In all modesty, I am the greatest author in the world, and the world is slowly recognizing that fact.

My novel Watch Out-- easily the greatest novel of the past thirty years -- inspired a motion picture starring Matt Riddlehoover (winner of the MySpace Users' Film Choice Award).

I wrote the screenplay in collaboration with the director, award-winning filmmaker Steve Balderson (Firecracker).

I write for myself -- and for no one else besides, no one else who is alive. The immediate public does not interest me in the slightest. I write for a readership that does not yet exist -- a future readership, an ideal readership. I write for readers who have not yet been born.

The intelligent love my works, whereas the mentally stunted despise them.

Since everyone asks me, let me say a few words about the novel's premise.

Watch Out concerns a man named Jonathan Barrows who falls in love with himself -- madly and literally.

Watch Out is the beautifully poetic expression of an individual's desire for himself and for his own life.

Between the months of May and August 2007, Watch Out was an Amazon.com bestseller, outselling even mainstream novels such as Fight Club and Lipstick Jungle.

I have been heavily praised by The Chicago Reader as one of the American Midwest's most accomplished writers of fiction.

Watch Out is my life's most significant achievement.

I am currently composing another novel. This one is extremely complex -- a web of words, numbers, and images.

I have been formally trained as a literary critic. My literary criticism has appeared in prestigious journals such as diacritics and the encyclopaedia The Facts on File Companion to the American Novel.

I earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literary Studies at Northwestern University.

What will become of me is anyone's guess.

I am asking all my friends to please pray for Seth. He is in the hospital and will be having surgery Wednesday. He broke his back at work..

Please Father God, forgive us for our sins, and bless our dear friend Seth with perfect health. In Jesus's Name, we pray. Amen.

All the papers on your desk
to the floor, (to the floor)
I said you could be on top
So lock the door (lock the door)
The pressure’s building up
Gimme more (I want more)
Let’s be clear, Professor
Gimme more (you want more)

Maybe we should play
A little game of hide and seek
Maybe we should be ourselves
And prey upon the weak.
Endless halls of mirrors
Are the castles that we keep
The reality of our genius
Plagues us as we sleep

Teach me, teacher, teach.
The psychology of lust
Desire drips from the walls
Turning water into rust.

All the papers on your desk
to the floor, (to the floor)
I said you could be on top
So lock the door (lock the door)
The pressure’s building up
Gimme more (I want more)
Let’s be clear, Professor
Gimme more (you want more)

Now the student is the teacher
Let me show you a few things
How to think like royalty
And the pleasure in the stings
The noise is getting louder
And the wanting ever strong
It might seem like forever
But I promise it won’t be long

All the papers on your desk
to the floor, (to the floor)
I said you could be on top
So lock the door (lock the door)
The pressure’s building up
Gimme more (I want more)
Let’s be clear, Professor
Gimme more (you want more)

You are more then welcome. I truly enjoy reading your books and will continue my patronage.

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.--Jorge Luis Borges(1899-1986)

The reason why so few good books are written is that so few people who can write know anything--Walter Bagehot (1826-1877)

I have yet to finish Watch Out, but about sixty or so pages in I certainly am intrigued. I do intend to finish it. Both out of respect for you sending it to me, and simply because I'm interested.

The concept is certainly not an overdone one. Nor one I've ever contemplated. While some things seem overly graphic, it presents a very thick air of realism that I think adds to the piece.

I'll let you know more once I've finished. Thanks again for sending it to me. After I finish it, I've got Jane Eyre assigned as mandatory summer reading for AP English IV.

I've been trying, to no avail, to find Watch Out in several bookstores and libraries. Is it only available online or is there a bookstore I could find it in?
