   About José Somoza

Ananias was a Christ disciple in Damascus, to whom Jesus came in a vision and gave detailed instructions including what street (Straight Street) and what house (Judas' house) to go to in order to lay hands on Saul so that Saul would receive his sight back. Jesus was telling Ananias to go help the man who came to town to throw him in prison and would like to murder him. Wow, what an instruction and what a step of obedience by a Christ follower!

Straight Street (or in Latin, Via Recta), is the Roman street that runs from east to west in the old city of Damascus. It was visited by St. Paul as mentioned in the story of Paul's conversion to Christianity in Acts 9:10-19

Ananias Chapel in the basement of the Ananias house, Damascus

When Ananias arrives, he specifically addresses Saul as “brother”. What an example of the love and forgiveness that are fruit of a Christ follower’s life. Saul received his sight after Ananias (his enemy) laid his hands on him and he followed Christ that day.

Love and blessings

I used to wonder, who colored these beautiful wings! How does the peacock get his iridescent color? Amazingly, the peacock feathers haven no pigment in the feathers--the color is produced by light-processing structures formed by careful arrangement of the little barbs and barbules of the feather, which form a diffraction grating.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The structure of these micro barbs in the feather is on the order of 100,000 dots per inch, which gives a grid spacing approximating the wavelength of light, and produces these incredible color effects.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The iridescent blue-green color is very similar to that produced by the optical structures of the morpho butterfly, but uses a totally different principle to cause the color to appear. If the peacock feather is viewed from the backside, the blue dot disappears. The color is truly in the eye of the beholder, not in the feather.

Isn't God a great artist?

Release of my first cd "Люлка" !!!
Dear friends,
I am very happy about the release of my first cd!
My purpose was to combine the trumpet with another instrument or with voice. There are some unusual duos like trumpet and recorder, trumpet and melodica, cornetto and gadulka (bulgarian folkstringinstrument) ...  Besides three important pieces from the new music repertoir you listen to some pieces written for me, others are improvised. And I am glad that 3 bulgarian songs are part of the cd.

You can find all tracks under www.ensemble-modern.com (see "cds"), some of them you can listen to under www.myspace.com/savastoianov

All the best!
sava

This Syrian village, Saidnaya, where houses are built around a rock with a very old convent at the top, is considered a place for religious pilgrimage.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A steep climb is the only way up to the convent, which is said to date back to the Emperor Justinian.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Legend has it that the Virgin Mary appeared to Justinian and asked him to found the convent.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After entering through a maze of passages, you finally reach the Chapel of the Virgin. The walls are covered with beautiful icons including one said to have been painted by St. Luke.

This chapel was very famous to Christians and at one point was the second Christian place of pilgrimage after Jerusalem, the crusaders called it "Notre Dame de Sardeneye".
Greetings and love from Syria
