I’ve always had these bios written about me but they never seem to quite fit. This time around, I want you to hear my story straight from the horse's mouth…
Music has always been a huge part of my life. As far back as I can remember, I’ve been a singer. I grew up in a musical family in the heart of Mississippi where I was exposed to music ranging from Johnny Cash to the Eagles to B.B. King and everything in between. I learned to sing in church and later picked up my dad’s old guitar. I played in bands throughout high school and college performing anywhere they’d let me play. That led me here, to Nashville, TN.
Six years ago I moved to this Nashvegas town like everyone else wanting to be the next big thing... one problem though, I didn't have any songs to sing. I began calling publishers in town asking for songs but no one would give songs to some no name joe that just rolled into town so I had to learn to write them on my own. It was the best thing that could've ever happened to me. I fell in love with the craft of writing a song that could connect with someone and make them feel. Somewhere along the way I morphed from a performing artist to a performing songwriter.
Now I get to wake up everyday with the challenge of sitting in a room, staring down a blank sheet of paper and coming out victorious with a new song. Then I get to go play it for whoever will listen and hope & pray they feel it like I did when I was writing it. That’s what I love about music, it’s a shared experience. It can make you smile or it can make you cry; it can knock you down and then pick you right back up again and I'm lucky enough to get the honor of sharing it with you. Thank you for listening.

"Josh Byrd has been making music long enough to know exactly who he is as an artist. Josh is a confident performer both on the stage and in the studio and is well aware of what it takes to make great music. One listen to his new EP Shoot For The Stars and you will undoubtedly agree. Josh's larger than life sound coupled with his honest, heartfelt lyrics and his high-energy live show make him an artist who continues to captivate audiences time and time again." - Western Beat Magazine
