Here are some projects I've worked on as a producer / engineer:
My band, with Rex Preston, Gina Griffin, Ed Boyd & Leon Hunt. We play Celtic and American folk music with surprising twists, and an improvisational approach.
I help out with the general running of the bath folk club, mainly because it's the best thing to happen to the Bath folk and acoustic scene in years. Come along, we've got some great acts on soon.

As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.
Hi Josh Tried to post a comment before but we weren't quite friends yet...or something! Anyway, just to say thankyou for the beautiful sound in bath on Friday night, it made a lovely gig even lovelier. You're a busy bee by the way, Ceri and I are hoping to make it to your druidstone gig if the good lord's willing. x
The latest from the Creek - We've just added four new tracks to myspace completed last week, with Phil Innes at the controls. These are the first recordings to feature Alan Ibbotson on drums, and we are all really happy with the results. It's a shame that we've not been able to get back into the studio before this but we've been able to build up new material in the meantime.
The timing was perfect as we all went down with Swine Flu after the session, with Guy just able to complete the last vocals before admitting defeat!.
"Judgement Day" is a totally retro song with a very 70's (complete with cowbell) Bad Company-Free - AC/DC vibe with a storming solo from Guy at the end.
"I Know" - Very fast with a great hook - very unlike anything we've done before, a sort of punk/blues take on things - great vocal and lyrics. The opening section is from a German radio broadcast being picked up from Guy's heavily overdriven Peavey 5150 valve amp - can anyone translate? :)
"Chains" takes us back to our blues roots, with Guy sounding rather like John Lee Hooker in the opening section, before the song hurtles into a very Led Zeppelin style meltdown, complete with some suitably wailing guitar.
"Salvation" is a slowie with added Hammond! - some nice guitar licks too! - almost prog rock at the opening section (reminds me of Andy Latimer and Camel), before building around a very moody bluesy set of chord changes into some very epic choruses. Phil added the keyboard parts - and we got a bit carried away - sounded almost like "Highway Star" for a while - But Phil very diplomatically as ever got us back on track. We argued for weeks about this song prior to the recording - as to whether or not it made the grade - I'm glad we kept it!

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Thanks for befriending . I see you're a busy man. All good stuff :)
Thanks for your stellar drumming on my songs at SWF09 and help with transcription in the studio .. finally uploaded them both now. Enormous fun - only regret I didn't get to play "Tell Me I'm Wrong" live with you and Chris. I do hope we get the chance to work together again at some point in the future. SWF10?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Have a break from football and come dance instead.
We're playing at the Spiegel tent on Bath rugby ground (the Rec)
They'll be videos as well and we'll be playing new songs from the album "Beyond the forest" as well as old favourites.
You can hear clips on our website (www.baka.co.uk) and we've put a couple of live tracks on our Myspace page.
One Love!

Oh, I've just put my specs on and I can see you're on a pebble beach, quite hard on the feet I expect, and you still have your shoes on, rightly so. Cheers, Duncan.
Hey Josh, have you still got your shoes on whilst relaxing on the sand? It's difficult to tell, maybe you did take them off. Have a fabspecmazing 2009 in any event. Cheers, Duncan.
