Playing piano since a young age, Josh is finally heeding the call to move toward his dream of becoming a musical artist.
The son of a Texas rancher/cowboy and a native Sioux Indian, Josh grew up in a small west Texas town. Unable to conform to the “cowboy regimen,” and lifestyle, Josh broke the mold andwith his natural, carefree and casual persona to become a skateboarder and traveled the country on tours.
Josh was raised playing the piano from the age of five. It wasn’t until he discovered soul music that his heart began to sing. This compelling attraction to rhythm and soul music fueled and inspired Josh to realize what he was meant to do. Josh would soak up the soul music at concerts and feel how transparent, vulnerable, and totally exposed the artists were. “They seemed to layout their hearts and souls on the table, for all to see.” Josh was so captivated that he taught himself to play the guitar, perfected his piano skills, and began writing songs.
Josh’s first endeavor at song writing is the sensitive and intimate, “Sweet November”. Upon close listening, it becomes apparent to many that it is not just Josh’s music that seems meaningful and sincere. Josh is living his life on purpose and it directly reflects in his sweet, sexy, soulful style. Josh’s harmonious, melodic, romantic lyrics and vocals captivate the hearts of many.
He has played in clubs all over the country, such as the Viper Room, BB King’s Blues Club, The Troubadour, The Mint, Momo’s, Carousel Lounge, Lion and Rose, Winedale Tavern, Knitting Factory in New York City, The Annex and more.
“Just Walking Away,” is the title of Josh’s first EP, released March 2007. This soothing, soulful arrangement of music was conceived while Josh was on a long flight to Italy. Having many hours to either sleep, watch a boring in-flight movie or gaze out the window pondering his life, Josh looked inward to examine his heart. He contemplated life-changing decisions he knew he had to make. He was inspired to write the title track on this EP and moved toward his dream, by walking away from the chaos, confusion and temptations that was hindering his creative potential and joy filled life.
“ …this is where I am now. It’s the end of a long journey, but the start of an even longer one, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.” peace & love; -josh-
