  • Bio

Joshua K. Hatcher is a rootsy, jazzy, folk-rock artist from Northern PA. The backwoods folk meets suburban garage rock is simple, rough, and smothered in rich lyrics that demand a second look. Embedded in the music is a priceless mesh of jazz, folk and roots rock, along with technological effects and industrial and ethnic percussion. It's a frappe of swing, bluegrass, modern folk, alternative rock and electronica that shouldn't be missed. His live shows vary across genres, and he can tailor make a show for any crowd. With energetic cover songs from popular artists, and fresh original music that could easily compete for airwaves on any radio station, Josh's stage presence is memorable, and entertaining. On a rare occasion does small town America experience such unusual talent. Most artists are striving to "make it big" to "be somebody" to "get paid". Joshua K. Hatcher is striving for something else entirely. While the thought of the bright lights, big royalty checks and ambitious stage performances would send shivers and goosebumps all over the necks of most young musicians, josh has a different motivation in mind. More than willing to sacrifice the glory and the excitement of the industry just to make a significant difference in one life, josh juggles his family and all his other hot irons with the intent of living out his faith first. Perfectly content with small gigs that sometimes may not pay much, he says, "If I am blessed with a full time job as a musician, that's great. If I get to play my guitar and sing a song for one person who needed to hear the message that's burning inside me, then I know that I have fulfilled my calling." Many artists refuse to classify their music in one particular genre for fear that it will limit them only to the section of the record store that their CD gets placed into. Joshs music can easily be classified everything. His versatile style can adapt to any audience, ranging from adult contemporary and jazzy easy listening to folk and hard rock. His versatile style blurs generational barriers, bringing together young and old. Occasionally playing with a full band, or a guest musician, Josh custom builds each performance to the needs of the audience. Josh has played and "entertained" since he was a teenager in all kinds of settings from clubs to churches, from streetcorners in Nashville to coffeeshops in Coudersport. Although Josh's music is entertaining, he prefers to think of music as a language to speak a message of hope and peace. "I like to think of myself as a bum on the street with a sandwich-board bringing the truth out of its closets and cloisters to the streets and newsstands so everyone can see the headlines: 'love changes people... people set free by the truth...'
