About me:
Are you a gamer on the Treasure Coast area of Florida? Then you'd probably be interested in either Treasure Coast Magic or Treasure Coast Wargaming.
This isn't really my blog because I rarely write here. My blog is over on LiveJournal. I also have Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, and even MSN Messneger (yay Trillian). If you're interested, ask and you may recieve.
I worked at a library for many years. Now I work for a small direct mail company. The search for a career instead of just a job continues however. I went to college, it didn't work out, I was going to go back to another college for a different degree but wasn't able to, and now I don't really know what my future will be. I'm a nice guy, a good guy, and people have called me a straight edge (I'm not part of straight edge culture though). I like referential humor and make obscure jokes and bad puns. I am often blunt and sometimes sarcastic. I value truth over happiness. I feel most people don't really understand me. I'm trying to understand myself and the world and for what purpose I continue to live. I play Magic the Gathering and some tabletop minatures wargames and various computer games (mostly of the RTS genre). I love movies but watch very little TV. I love football, particularly the Miami Dolphins, and like to play football too. I like to kayak and own one. Despite living in Florida, I get to the beach rarely and when I do its usually at night (but its very nice then). I like history and know lots of random trivia. I read non-fiction for fun. I don't care for kids and have spent my life adamant that I will never be a parent. I'm religious in a sort of odd agnostic/psuedo-Christian way - I have strong morals which are similiar to Christianity and believe in the existance of a benevolent God, but agree with the agnostic viewpoint that the nature of God is unknowable to us as humans. I also have what a number of online tests tell me are at least vaguely Buddhist tedancies. I don't really trust the Bible because it was written by men and manipulated by a corrupt Church. Lax morality and the rampant sex in American culture bothers me, but the violence doesn't. I describe myself as a conservative reformist democratic socialist who thinks corrupt American politics, careless government spending, rampant capitalistic greed, and cowboy diplomacy are destroying America. Some people think I'm too judgemental. I want to be good at anything I really care about. One of my biggest regrets in life is making friends with people who were entertaining despite the fact that I didn't really like them as people. I don't like it when people smoke or use drugs and I have never done either myself. I hate the taste of beer (I drink other alcohol once in awhile) but often drink large quantities of soda and fervently hope I drink enough water that my soda drinking wont cause me kidney failure some day. I respect and admire self-confidence, honesty, and intelligence. I hate being lied to. I take relationships seriously and am frequently very nervous in them, but unlike alot of guys I'm not afraid of commitment. I get nervous about new things in general. I have a strange phobia about eyes.
I have a homepage that I need to get off my lazy butt and work on more.
"If you believe in forever, then life is just a one night stand."
"You've got alot of odd information in your head."
"Who dares wins."
"Ludo Ergo Sum (I game therefore I am)"
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
"I'd say the best meaning of life we can grasp is this: learn what you can learn; help who you can help; make a difference if you can; seek happiness without being immoral; and most importantly learn what it is to truly love someone and be truly loved in return."
|
Who I'd like to meet:
God (but alas I'll presumably have to wait till the afterlife on that one).
Oh, you mean like another person? Someone intelligent, interesting, and capable of understanding me that is a genuinely good person. Especially if you're a single white female.
Honestly, if you read that rambling paragraph in the About Me section all the way through and didn't run away screaming then we should get along wonderfully.
