JOSH JAMES ALBUM REVIEW URBAN TULSA WEEKLY!JOSH JAMES ALBUM REVIEW INDEPENDENTCLAUSES INDIE MUSIC MAGAZINE
Josh James's musical journey was sparked by an interest in music inspired by an eight track player in his aunt’s car which he listened to while she ran errands for the family business. She had such greats as The Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John and Van Morrison. He was hooked. At age 8, his mother purchased Josh's first guitar and paid for lessons at Guitar House of Tulsa.
Josh's first foray into the music business came in 2005 when he released his E.P. "Primitive Sketches", a four track recording of a live performance.
Not happy with the sound of a just-solo performance James enlisted the help of John Conrad, a local Tulsa musician and producer. In early 2006 they recorded "Painted In A Corner", James's first full length L.P. It was met with modest success and praise from Urban Tulsa Weekly.
In late 2007, Josh began recording, with the same producer, the follow up to "Painted In A Corner” titled "Asbestos Honey"; it is a folk/rock/americana blend with plenty of catchy hooks and foot tapping melodies! "Asbestos Honey" is now available on CDbaby, Digstation,MSN Music and More to come!
James added a backing band in April of 2009. The band consists of Adam Hewett (Lead Guitar), Cale Jorgenson (Bass Guitar) and Sean Wilson (Percussion).
