Hey People my name is Josh Draven I am currently the artists for Psycho Gypsy. I am most known for my work with Psycho Gypsy that Is did for their mascot "Esmerelda Demonica" The boys have asked me to do some additional work for them for an upcoming album cover so look for that next year.
Psycho Gypsy was a band that formed at the height of the GRUNGE era in Phoenix, AZ. 1992 by Eddie Electra (who later would join Hollywood's infamous PEPPERMINT CREEPS): on vocals and guitar; and Timmy Tantrum on vocals and bass. The band would undergo a few lineup changes before the most popular lineup which included Erik "BD" Johnson on lead
guitar, and Mykel (R.I.P) on drums. PSYCHO GYPSY were proudly Phoenix's ONLY glam rock band.
Coming off a long succession of local glam bands in the late '80s, Eddie
and Timmy thought long and hard about ditching the makeup when they formed
the group in 1992. It was a time when grunge bands like Nirvana and Pearl
Jam had taken over the driver's seat on the radio airwaves and bands such
as Motley Crue, Poison, and Guns N' Roses were forced to ride in the back
seat.
For exactly that reason, the band decided to champion the art of
frosty lipstick, glittery scarves, and black eyeliner while performing
their style of raunchy and sleazy rock 'n roll. The band was notorious for 'mouthing off' to audience members, and causing some serious bar room brawls! It was very hard for them to even get a gig. However, it wasn't long before the band "caught on" , and eventually PSYCHO GYPSY had regular "gigs"
throughout the Phoenix area. Their rock and roll theatrics and cool tunes
landed them opening slots for many major bands of the day, including Poison,Warrant,
Cinderella, L.A. Guns, Slaughter, Pretty Boy Floyd, Shotgun Messiah,
Tyketto, and Bang Tango, as well as Tuff, The Zeros, Atomic Punks, and many
other bands.
Venues Psycho Gypsy have performed at included Hollywood's
Coconut Teaszer GLITTER GLAM NIGHT and The Roxy, playing shows with other popular Hollywood
acts like Revl'on Red,Foxy Roxx, Guttersluts, Peppermint Creeps, and Spiders & Snakes.
PSYCHO GYPSY'S main home, was a little hole in the wall in Phoenix called THE MASON JAR. It was there that Psycho Gypsy started a bi-monthly event in coordination with the "JAR's CZAR" Franco Gagliano (75 Cents Kamikazze's anyone?) entitled"The Glam
Slam" that to the dismay of MANY, turned out to be a huge success! The band would perform with
other glam rock bands invited from across the USA , and between sets they would dj and play
music videos on a huge video screen from bands that influenced them, such
as Kiss, Motley Crue, and Poison. Past shows have included Foxy Roxx,
Guttersluts, Trash Brats, Spiders & Snakes, and Peppermint Creeps.
Later PSYCHO GYPSY would produce thier very own cable access show entitled ...but of course..THE PSYCHO GYPSY SHOW! The show was on every Monday nights @ 11 pm in the Phoenix Area and was crudely edited as well as painfully cheesy! However, people tuned in (even if just for the sake of heckling the band)! The show featured live clips of the band, as well as various embarrasing sketches and stunts ala JACKASS! PSYCHO GYPSY called it a day spring of 2000 as the members of the band would drift in different directions. ...However, NEVER SAY NEVER! STAY TUNED!
