    Josh Parker is a born and bred Yorkshire lad. Brought up in Hebden Bridge, a market town with a population of 4000, Parker was inspired by the local folk artists surrounding him and his parents' musical taste influenced him hugely. Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Van Morrison encouraged him to put pen to paper, pick up a guitar, and play. Self-taught and introverted, he claims to owe a lot to Josh Philips, another local artist, who persuaded him to play his music to an audience for the first time. At University in York, Josh found his largest inspiration to write music; a mix of "facing challenges and personal conflicts…as an outlet to express what matters to me". Josh's artistic integrity is in his consistency: Playing in his bean splattered, cigarette butt filled student kitchen to a bunch of hungover friends, or suited up on a stage at a formal University function with an audience of 3000...his passion and style are ever-present. A voice raspy and raw, his music denotes influences of recent artists such as Bon Iver and The Beautiful Girls. The style is simplistic: voice, guitar and harmonica. His vulnerability and innocence are the roots of what makes his performances special. Think folksy acoustic, with a jazz and blues influence. Now in Barcelona, Parker is finding fresh platforms for his music. He is finding new experiences and perspectives that he is putting to paper, and using the city around him to aid his style. Received brilliantly at GAP's La Nit de John Lennon, he proved his talent for putting his own sound on the tracks of other artists. He sees this new location as a vital development to his musical career.
