Members of the Joshua Stamper Ensemble have included all manner of extraordinary musicians, too many to number, a veritable cast of thousands. If, in your listening, your curiosity is piqued to the point where you simply MUST know who it was that played that rippin' sax solo; or the cello part that nearly brought you to tears; or the piano tone-clusters that were executed with shocking precision yet tender insight into the fragile state of the human psyche, send a message and Joshua will be glad to let you know who it was.
Joshua Stamper is a composer, arranger, guitarist, bassist, sometimes singer, and frequent daydreamer. He often thinks about how nice it would be to be able to play piano, oboe, clarinet, drums, chromatic harmonica, violin, viola, trombone, vibraphone, and spoons. Since Joshua doesn't play any of these instruments with any real facility, he has other people play them who are good. Joshua also thinks about how nice it would be to have actually read all the books on his bookshelf.
Joshua has been super-lucky to work with some of the very happening musicians on some very happening projects:
-Kurt Weisman: Kurt's latest solo record, 'Spirtitual Sci-Fi' is coming out on Important Records, January 22, 2008! -Ben+Vesper: 'All This Could Kill You', and 'More Questions', both available from Sounds Familyre. -Vesper (solo) -Asa Irons -Christopher Weisman -Daniel Smith -Sufjan Stevens -Jason Harrod -Kris Allen -Jen Allen -Kit McDermott -Rogerio Boccato -Peter Shea
Finally, Joshua is married to one wonderful Harmelss Drudge, who is the creator of extraordinarily poignant and wonderfully odd prose. It's really something. Joshua says, "Take a look!"
Mr. Stamper you are my hero. It was a real treat to play with you these last few years at school and you've been a real inspiration. I'm going to have to be your groupie now since you're becoming a famous musician and all. Congratulations and don't totally forget me, kay?
"enough to make you wish you had more talented friends..."
I wanna eat Mexican food with one of these talented friends I already got... perhaps a family outing now that the days are warm?
I was glad to read your name on www.pitchforkmedia.com this morning. I'll definitely be buying the album this summer. I'm done with school after this week, maybe i'll see you around town this summer. Take care.
Yo Josh: You have a complex melodic mind my friend. Sometimes striking an eerie tension between the beautiful and the haggard or the pshycotic and the sensable. I like it. my kids said that Bounce sounds like a video game-----license it to nintendo for $50G---this is different version of what lenny has up. I like both actually. also ----love the piece you e-mailed me Rumors of Glory------ My favorite thing of yours I've heard yet------WATCH OUT NOW!!!!!!!!! people might start thinking you got some SOUL hittin' them blue notes and all.------thanks for checking out my stuff dude---it means a lot to have a legit cat say positive things PS I played at a festival at a Calvary Chapel down this way where Glen Kaiser headlined. You're too kind to draw comparisons Much Love Jacob

To the most exceptional of my readers I should like to say just a word as to what I really demand of music. It should be cheerful and yet profound, like an October afternoon. It should be unique, wanton, and tender, and like a dainty, sweet woman in roguishness and grace.
Josh!
I absolutely love it to pieces! Everything about Rumours of Glory was beautifully performed - the frustration of the artist; the torment of the dancer; the compulsive disorder of the guest...the soothing comfort as the Holy Spirit descends and resolves in the prologue.
The music reflects the pace scene-by-scene through to the end, and expresses everything that the film can not.
Remarkable.
Thank you Josh! You are more awsome than i realised...
Really cool music. To tell you the truth I wasnt expecting much from the singing, but I ended up loving it!
I like that you are diverse and remain exciting in every different style.
Okay, so i've started a petition to persuade you to come over with Ben and Vesper in October...
If any decline is from a financial stance, i will be running a £5 car-wash in our local Tesco carpark, and a 50p tombola on the beach to raise any/all funds. We'll have a £1 three-legged race course laid out through town. (fancy-dress, of course) and a 'guess how many sweets in the jar' competition...sweets for the winner.
Joshua, what can I say? "Bounce" and "Spring's Sprung" are unbelievably good! Your texturing and colour combinations are appreciated by our ears but besides that, it's just great fun to listen to. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your music as it becomes available online. Thanks for your encouragement through your musicianship.
