I started playing music as soon as I was able to hold my own head up. During school I played a huge line up of instruments (trumpet, tenor sax, percussion, baritone horn and the oboe). I was known for tapping rhythms when I should have been studying or doing my homework. Currently I am one of three Drum Majors in The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps which is an active duty specialty unit in the Army. We spend the majority of our time conducting ceremonies at the White House, Pentagon and perform for visiting dignitaries and heads of state through out the Nations Capital. We also visit schools and professional music conventions as members or Clinicians. Anyway, I got started playing Irish music in 2002 when a drummer at work had a bodhran by his locker. I asked him what it was and better yet, could I give it a try. From that moment on I was hooked. First Bodhran then flute and guitar, and the bouzouki wasn't far after that. It's funny how Irish traditional music grabs hold of people and turns them into junkies. I have never been so into a type of music in my life and I have been at it for a 25 years. I hope you all enjoy the couple of clips I have up. They were a blast to record and they feature two great musicians by the names of Danny Novack and Patrick Cavanaugh.
