BooksJosiah's favorite Book is, "So You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star", by musician and author, Jacob Slichter. (former drummer of the band Semisonic. BOOK REVIEWS: "If I was nineteen again and lusted after the game of music, this book would be my guide and charm." --Andrew Loog Oldham, former manager of the Rolling Stones "Still wondering what your college band coulda been? This giddy, can-you-believe-my-luck book is for you." --Time Out New York "Slichters most impressive attribute is his unfailing enthusiasm for his craft and for music in general." --James McMurtry, The New York Times Book Review "Jacob Slichter is a self-effacing, good-humored, and intelligent guide through the musical maze. Few first-person memoirs of the rock biz are as smart, honest, and entertaining as this tart, incisive work." --Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
Heroes"I don't believe in heroes and villains ultimately. I believe people are capable of great villainy and great heroism - the same person." --Bill Paxton (actor & film director)

   Josiah Borgos's Blurbs
About me:
Josiah started playing drums at the age of 17. By many standards he started pretty late in life, but Josiah got his feet wet just like so many other drummers; self taught- pounding on a used kit he bought out of the classifieds. Still, it was his unique exposure to music that thrust him into playing drums. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Josiah had his first exposure to music while growing up listening and watching New Orleans musicians play church music on Sunday mornings. This sparked his interest enough to get out into the local scene to see what else New Orleans music had to offer. He eventually started his first drum lessons with fellow New Orleans native, GALACTIC drummer, Stanton Moore. After just a few lessons from Stanton, Josiah quickly realized he had lot's of catching up to do. In 1994, deciding to get serious and give full-time attention to his music, Josiah packed-up and relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he began his undergraduate education in music, studying drums & percussion under Roy Smith. (Principle Percussionist, Tulsa Philharmonic). A year after relocating to Tulsa, Josiah co-formed a rock band called AD:HOC with three fellow music students. Playing emotionally intense live shows packed with raw, un-harnissed talent, it wasn't long before AD:HOC's rhythmically driving, yet beautiful and melodic style grew increasingly popular in their college music community. With so much exposure to New Orleans style funk, being classically trained, and while taking lessons from “technical icon,” Brian Kupp, this was Josiah’s first move into heart-felt modern rock… He was hooked! But in 1998, after a 3-year ride with the band, Josiah was forced to leave AD:HOC to focus solely ..ing his studies. It was during this next year, his intense love of music lead to what he called, "...complete and total burn-out." Josiah unexpectedly sold his drum kit, dropped from the scene, and began a long, three-year hiatus from music. But Josiah never completely disconnected from his craft. In 1999 Josiah finally graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. For the next two years he worked as an intern in the Alternative Artist Development Department at Polygram Records, worked as a marketing assistant for 6 different mainstream radio stations, and even took the opportunity to travel and live in Europe for a while. During this ‘somewhat’ musical exile, Josiah met his close friend and confidant, Joe Cinocca. (President of Yawn Records: Tulsa, OK) It was through this friendship that Josiah was eventually introduced to a young, budding musician by the name of Tony Romanello. This meeting proved to be a turning point for Josiah. Tony was looking for a drummer to help support his first solo effort, "The Mumble Odd." (Engine Shed Records) After a couple of meetings, Joe Cinocca convinced Josiah to take on the project, and the rest is history. In 2001, Josiah bought a new drum kit, and quickly began working to rebuild his musical chops. It wasn't long before Josiah was once again inspired to make a serious comeback to his first love: Playing drums. The rest, as they say, is history. Since his musical re-birth, Josiah has not only spent countless hours honing in on his skills, he’s had the fortunate opportunity to meet and work with some of the greatest musicians in the southwest. Whether it’s laying down some studio tracks for his band or an up & coming solo artist, his studio credits are ever growing. Not only has he had the opportunity to gain valuable experience playing different styles of music in the studio, he’s been very fortunate to have recorded in some of the coolest places in the world! “Believe it or not, my first recording experience ever was at Long Branch Studios! Walking into that drum room at Long Branch, knowing that Phil Collins actually designed the room and that Stewart Copeland actually performed in that same spot where I was going to be recording for the first time, was pretty overwhelming.” Just like his studio experiences, Josiah has also been gifted with some very special live playing experiences. Through the past few years Josiah has not only had the opportunity to perform at the popular underground spot, Club One in Tulsa, OK, (In the 60’s & 70’s, Club One hosted mega-stars like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.) he’s also performed at the world renowned Cain’s Ballroom. (Known as the home of Bob Wills, Cain’s Ballroom is also infamous for the hole that Sid Vicious punched in the dressing room wall during the Sex Pistols first US tour. U2 also made a stop at the Cain’s on their first US tour.) But Josiah claim’s his most memorable performance to date is still his band’s gig last year at The Howlin’ Wolf in his hometown of New Orleans, LA. “For me, it hasn’t gotten any better than that. Lot’s of guys dream about playing Radio City, The Garden, the Hollywood Strip… Until we get to those places, The Howlin Wolf was my dream come true!” -Bio provided by Sugar-Coated Promotions.
