I write and record music as a hobby. I don't pretend to actually know what I'm doing, but I sure have a lot of fun playing around!
If you like what you hear here, please let me know!

Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam - As in: jam session with myself. 'Record' was pressed four times, with 'rewind' pressed in between. I often do that and then cut-and-paste the pieces until I'm happy with the arrangement. Other times, like here and with Jet Set, I'm so intrigued by the result that I can't bring myself to ruin the organic flow, so I leave them as they are. 2 May 2009
Nigirizushi - Arranged, but not much. 30 April 2009
Taco Salad - For some reason I felt like I was wrestling with this one; the basic idea came together easily, but then little things kept going wrong and it just wouldn't quite come together. But I'm happy with where it's at now. 6 May 2009 (but tweaked and re-uploaded 9 May 2009)
deprimido sin café - Every five days or so, I skip my daily cup of coffee. I usually feel a bit down on those days. 4 May 2009
Blue Caramel Corn - The beginning of the roll. I took the time to arrange this one pretty carefully. 24 April 2009
Licorice - Left alone, but planned out before recording. 28 April 2009
'For I - One of the few songs up here right now in which I actually sing. I love singing, but most of my songwriting lately has been done in the wee hours of the morning, when Asha's sleeping, so my only option is electronic music and headphones.
When I write songs, I usually just sing whatever random words come out of my mouth. Sometimes I keep them; other times I go back and write real lyrics. In the case of 'For I, I felt embarrassed by the initial "word soup," so when I played it for Asha for the first time, I warned her that the lyrics were stupid and that I was planning on writing real lyrics soon.
When she heard it, however, she said that she loved the lyrics and that I had to keep them. She explained that they meant:
'For I get out of town = before I die
I better watch/jump with ladies on the trampoline; watch/swim with women in the submarine = have fun connecting with pretty ladies.
I'm gonna knock your socks off / rock your world 'til you're in love with me = make music that rocks / have fun connecting with pretty ladies
I figured that was probably about right. Late 2008 or early 2009
Nine Times - Remember the Instrumental Improvisational Thingy? It started as a guitar riff that I liked and decided to record. This song is what happened when I took the riff and decided to try singing over it instead of doing instrumental things over it. The lyrics are pretty ridiculous and aren't actually about anyone; they just happened to fit the rhythm I wanted to sing. June 2008
Cells was written for my Anatomy and Physiology class. April 2008
Jet Set - A jam session with myself. 13 March 2009
Girls Are Very Pretty - An idea I always meant to elaborate on, but probably never will, at this point. Summer 2008
Ramen Noodle Soup - A little ditty. The one that started the food thing for naming instrumental pieces. 1 March 2009
Love is Offered - This is one of the oldest songs of mine I still know; don't know why I haven't gotten around to recording it until now. I have a love/hate relationship with it: There's a lot I love about it, but some parts kind of embarrass me. My singing is also out-of-tune in this recording in a few places. Anyway...
Six Point Seven is my second newest song, and I think it is by far my best-produced song yet. That's good, because I spent a lot of time on it. I'd still like to do some kind of processing on the vocals but don't know where to begin. Anyway, give it a listen; I think you'll like it.
Heart is another song written for Anatomy and Physiology class. May/June 2008.
Instrumental Improvisational Thingy is just a series of 1) hit record 2) do something 3) repeat. May 2008
Thanks for finding me. Good meeting you and playing together the other night. It sounds like you are getting some pretty good sounds with your "learning how to record" rig. All the songs have promise, but I really like your anatomy songs. Keep it up man!
hey you have some really good music. I don't know if you got my e-mail, but i saw your add on craigslist about starting a project so hit me up if your interested.
Cool stuff. A lot poppier than I expected. "Cells" is great. The music has this tension... like you could bury some message in the middle somewhere. It's got me waiting for the punchline anyway...
