i strive for honesty and integrity, in my lyrics and in the way i express them. the way it sounds is of far less importance to me. i try not to be influenced by any but my own inner truth and metaphysical wittness
Scott Drill:
Spending his teenage years as a gang member in Melbourne, Australia. He then, seeking deeper meaning embarked on a spiritual journey which first took him through different religions and ended up in him living isolated in a rain forest meditating for several years.
Through this he developed a deep connection with the creator and the creation.
In deep meditation he discovered what he calls the rhythm of the earth. A slow resounding energy with which he could unite, in breath, heart and mind. In this state he was overcome with peace and well being. This rhythm is the foundation of his music.
This music often translates him and others into the same state. Some experiencing trance like experiences.
Coupled with powerful, honest, poetic lyrics which are sung with the passion only a singer songwriter can deliver. There is nothing false or misleading, the listener is confronted with reality and emotion.
From the spiritual symbols tattooed on his skin to the dark songs of death, from the mysterious life he leads to the expressive hope of love, Scott Drill is complicated and thoroughly engaging.
Scott’s music is beautiful. Rich in lyrical content it is full of powerful melodies, explosive vocals and a unity of expression rarely heard. While it certainly is not to everyone’s liking, and it not meant to be, it leaves me with a deep sense of fulfillment. There is a strong blend of emotive sensuous songs that pamper the spirit intertwined with uncomfortable, unnerving dissonance and ill timing to draw attention to the lyrics that all is not right in the world.
Diverse vocals styles which he employs to match the lyrical intention, the style is unique but reminiscent of Robert Smith, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.
It is the sort of artistry that people will either love or hate. Definitely worth a few listens particularly if you like the thinking persons musicians such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave.............................
