About me: My name is Josie Cooke. I am originally from Oxford, Mississippi. I graduated with a B.A. in psychology and visual arts from Loyola University New Orleans in 1997. I was published in the 1996 Best of College Photography. Currently I am a member of the Oxford Artists' Guild. I have a master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and am in the midst of completing a Ph.D. in the same area from the same university. Although I have pursued a career in psychology, I have maintained my interest in photography, taking every opportunity to travel and practice my art. New Orleans was home for me for over a decade, and I fell in love with the beauty of the cemeteries there, and spent time attempting to capture the mystique everyone who visits them experiences. I have had wonderful experiences traveling, and have photographed in places such as Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, India, Italy, and Spain. My travels have allowed me to see my own country in a new and exciting way, and I hope to explore this new perspective over the next few years.
I have started on a new venture, Painted Bottle Lamps. They are GREAT fun to make, and look BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to see my work. I look forward to sharing the world through my eyes with everyone who will visit. Please stop by frequently, as I hope to add to the work shown here.
This is a video collection of all the pieces that were in the Angels Among Them show at the Powerhouse Gallery in July. Enjoy! Email me for pricing and ordering information: josiecooke@gmail.com

Your cemetery photography is beautiful! I have a crapload of photos I've taken at the various historic cemeteries in Memphis, I will have to share sometime!
Your photographs look great, Josie! ...I'm gonna be doing a lot of shows this summer, maybe I'll see you in Oxford. I'm playing with Jimbo Mathis in H-burg on April 11, and Blue Mountain in Starkville, on April 12. :) Yeehaw!
