Journalists for Mumia Abu-Jamal was founded in May, 2007 by Philadelphia journalist Hans Bennett and German Linguist Michael Schiffmann, who is the author of the new book on Mumia's case, Race Against Death.

In 1982, radical journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of killing white Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner and sentenced to death in a trial that Amnesty International has declared a "violation of minimum international standards that govern fair trial procedures and the use of the death penalty."

Journalists for Mumia (Abu-Jamal-News.com) is an independent media-activist group dedicated to challenging the long history of mainstream media bias against Abu-Jamal's case for both a new trial and innocence, as has been documented by media-watchdog FAIR.ORG.
