Pete: I grew up in a tiny village on the very edge of the west coast of Scotland where the sea surrounds you and the sky is endless. My class had four people in it. My aunt was a jazz singer and her husband a saxophonist. My dad is an artist. He paints the west coast in all its colour. I drew pictures and hid in my room and wrote songs when I was 15. I went to art school and played music at parties. I pretended I was in a band with some friends and then started a band with other friends. We played gigs and made albums. I wrote songs with you, and we called it Journeybox.

Kari: My grandmother was a concert pianist who rode a penny farthing with a cap on her head. My great grandfather was an artist who painted pictures that were dark and brooding. When I was a very little girl my daddy played the piano with me sitting next to him on the stool. Once I went to school my favourite thing was to draw. When I was seven I was Judas in the school play and my costume was an old curtain sewn together. That was when I sang on stage for the first time. After that I started writing songs on the piano. I went to Scotland to act and sing. I wrote songs with you, and we called it Journeybox.
