A little bit of everything: R&B, jazz, neo-soul, funk, rock, pop, some rap...
Movies
I enjoyed Dreamgirls on so many levels. First and foremost, it's an African American musical. Don't see many of those today. Secondly, it's a story of inspiration and redemption. And last, but not least, the singing is incredible. One critic called the singing loud. Yeah, it is loud. But the notes are good, and it IS a musical, for cripe's sake.
The Pursuit of "HappYness" - You'll have to see the movie to understand this one.

TV land sitcoms, Disney channel w/my 2 yr old, anything comical. Cartoons. MSNBC...gotta stay in the know! Sex in the City & Six feet Under - hate they're gone! Thank goodness for Syndication and On-Demand. Girlfriends (West Coast Sex in the City w/ a little brown sugar!)..
Books
One of the most inspiring books I've ever read was "The Celestine Prophecy," by James Redfield.

A good friend of mine just published a novel, "Choices of the head/of the Heart." It's romantic and witty.
People who are not afraid to be themselves. There is power in truly knowing who you are, flaws and all. There is power in being who you are called to be. And there is an inner peace when you know that no one can take away that power.
No one is defined by the things they've done, but by the lessons they've learned and the wisdom they are willing to teach others.
So who are my heros?

We are ALL manifestations of a transcendent force: the Mother/Father God, and we are ALL connected, and powerful. The purpose is to also create Ma'at (Balance, Harmony, Justice, Reciprocity, and ORDER). These are the key concepts in any ethical system, and they emerged first within you, the spirit of the ancient Nile Valley of Afrika!
