The Joy Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit, grassroots organization based on the philosophy of using real-world, workable solutions to end the epidemic of eating disorders. We work towards reducing the rate and severity of eating disorders by supporting and conducting research, education, and support programs. The Joy Project does not seek to replace or discourage traditional or current treatments, but to expand the options for treatment. We seek to make treatment options more accessible to anyone affected and find and implement ways to make treatment more effective. The Joy Project seeks to empower individuals with eating disorders to be active participants in their own recovery.
We intend to accomplish the tough task of meeting the needs of those who wish to recover through a wide variety of initiatives including:
in-person support groups
internet support chats
an internet message board
informational assistance for family & friends of sufferers
providing information on nutrition, medical & health concerns, basic psychology of EDs, healthy exercise habits, emotional work & healing, and the physiological complications of eating disorders
promoting self-help programs as an alternative for patients who are denied treatment
working for change in the manner in which eating disorders are diagnosed and treated
continuing to lobby for additional support from insurance companies and government regulations so that more people can get adequate treatment
work toward the establishment of recovery-supportive housing for those for whom traditional residential or partial programs are not an option
establishing an outpatient treatment center where the focus is on overcoming eating disordered behaviors as part of a more wholistic approach to living a better and more fulfilling life

Thank you very much for becoming our friend. Good to have you with us! It is an unfortunate but very real fact that predators exist and their prey are the innocent children of the world, who are trapped behind a wall of silence. Those innocents need you to be their voice, to break that silence!! As ever, it is the musicians who come to the aid of the helpless and try to change the world... So come and have a listen to the great artists and bands that have become our friends...and show them your support the way they show us theirs! Stay in touch with us, spread the word, let your friends know and their friends in turn about our campaign. The children must be protected, and we must all do our part...thank you for wanting to do yours and for adding your voice to ours, we grow louder every day...soon they WILL listen!!!
Please check out our site. It has alarming statistics on child pornography and sexual abuse. There is also a like to find registered sex offenders in your area. Once again, we want to thank you for supporting a very good cause. Rock Against Child Pornography and Abuse ~ Team Indiana
Join Us at the 2009 NAAFA Fashion Show & Auction Dinner
Enjoy plus-size fashions at their best while you help support and celebrate 40 years of size acceptance advocacy efforts at the 2009 NAAFA Fashion Show on July 31, 2009!
This year Washington DC will take its place as the leading plus-size fashion capital of the world as we bring you the NAAFA 2009 Fashion Show & Auction Dinner being held on Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Dulles Airport Marriott. NAAFA is the world's oldest, largest civil rights organization working to improve the lives of people of size. We turn forty years old this year and are going strong with the strength we need to build a new future. This major fund raising event for our organization will feature food, fashion, music and our well known Not-So-Silent Auction.
Plus size fashion designers from around the country will present their latest collections of inspired designs. These talented designers have a sincere desire to see women return to the truth within themselves as expressed through what they wear, giving women of any age and size the opportunity to be truly fabulous. We are happy to announce that we have award winning makeup artist, Maisie Dunbar, to assist our volunteer model participants with their makeup and hair stylists from Paul Mitchell The School Virginia to finish their looks.
Be sure to bring your wallets, checkbooks and credit cards as we will showcase vendors of fashion, accessories and furniture--all catering to the plus size audience.
The event begins with dinner at 7pm on Friday, July 31, 2009. Tickets to this exciting fund raising event are $75 each for the entire fashion-filled evening and may be purchased through July 26, 2009 online by going to http://www.naafaonline.com/NAAFA_2009_DC_Convention/index.html and clicking on the Registration tab.
The NAAFA vendor mall and vendor room are open to the public on Saturday, August 1st, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday, August 2, 2009, from 9:00 am -
I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Now we’re going through an uncertain future with JJ as he remains in ICU at the animal hospital. Hopefully everything will be fine and back to normal soon. Thank you for understanding and continuing to be my friend.
The trick is to stay focused on what you want to happen and let go of what you do not... cuz if you keep seeing things as they are, convincing yourself that you "have to" because that's reality, then it will always be your reality. want to change? it's as simple as changing the who, what, how, why and when of what you look at... DAILY :)
"What blessedness it is to dwell amidst this transparent air, which the eye can pierce without limit, amidst these floods of pure, soft, cheering light, under this immeasurable arch of heaven, and in sight of these countless stars! An infinite universe is each moment opened to our view. And this universe is the sign and symbol of Infinite Power, Intelligence, Purity, Bliss, and Love." *William Ellery Channing*
