My family pooled together and bought me a piano for my 30th birthday, so I am rediscovering my love for playing!! I love gardening (my garden was very productive this past summer) and then making the most delicious homemade salsa from my fresh tomatoes! I also love rain, white chocolate lattes, and everything about the fall. I love board games, and I love road trips. I love good music and being with friends and family. I love to write. I love watching football, and I find great pleasure in eating chips and salsa...the hotter the better! I love burning candles and seeing the world through my own unique shades of color. More than anything, I love a day spent just the three of us (me, Ryan, and our little girl). We're a quirky sort...but that's why we're so lovable.
Anything "acoustic alternative" and folksy. Love Feist, A Fine Frenzy, Colbie Caillat, Mat Kearney, Schuyler Fisk, Joshua Radin, Snow Patrol, John Mayer, James Blunt, Dave Matthews Band, The Fray, U2, Jack Johnson, and the soundtracks to Garden State, The Last Kiss, and Royal Tenenbaums. I love worship music, and much to Ryan's chagrin, I live on girl power music....Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Alanis, Lisa Loeb, Liz Phair, etc.
Movies
Current Faves: Garden State, Office Space, Dan in Real Life, Blades of Glory, Pride and Prejudice, Sound of Music, A Mighty Wind, Elizabethtown, Little Miss Sunshine, Anchorman.....Ryan and I have such an odd sense of humor, so we find that we like a lot of indie films and movies that we could never recommend to anyone. I like anything with Steve Carell; I think he's brilliant. Also, I have a soft spot in my heart for Disney films from the 60s...like Pollyanna, The Happiest Millionaire, SuperDad, The Snowball Express, The Parent Trap, Herbie, etc. Yes. Herbie.
Television
I never miss an episode of LOST, House, or The Office, and that's really about it. I don't really have time for TV. Tivo completely changed my life.
Books
I enjoy chick lit, classics, historical fiction, and anything creative....I LOVED "The Bell Jar," "DaVinci Code," "The Hiding Place," "Mere Christianity," "Jane Eyre," and "To Kill a Mockingbird." I'm not a fast reader (I read at the speed at which one would read aloud...I have a habit of soaking in every word and also proofreading for spelling and grammatical errors, which slows everything down), so I joined a Book Club to help motivate me to actually finish a book. Since then, I've found myself reading like crazy! For years, I have been toying with story ideas, all toward my goal of penning the Great American Novel....
Heroes
Women who have done great, notable things with their lives. I am a closet feminist.

About me: There's not much here about me, so if you're terribly disappointed, check out my actual blog....www.xanga.com/joyandryan. :-) Ryan and I have been happily married since 1998, and our true joy in life comes from being parents to our daughter Ryley (born in 2003). We spent three years in the beautiful mountains of Montana but have finally made a happy landing in Denver, Colorado. I stay busy with working a normal job, teaching piano lessons (I have six students!), and taking on freelance editing and proofing projects when I can.
6 days...thats it?!?! I guess I need to do some laundry! I really do hope that we are not stressing you out by coming. Oh, I have been asking Ryan to ask you...do you have a monitor that works or do I need to bring one? Let me know. We can't wait.
Hay just a note out of the blue to let you know that Brad and I have decited to move to Colorado. We will be living over the mountain in Grand Junction...but still closer then SD.Love you guys.
We would LOVE to come and visit! It will just be me and Sammy, though, as David has no days left this year. I think we would all have a jolly good time. I can't wait.
