There is something timeless about the Lobster Records debut of JOYSTICK “Heavy Chevy”, produced by Shawn Dewey, guitarist of LAGWAGON (Fat Wreck Chords). It is a perfect moment of feeling, of a period so long ago in memory and so short in occurrence, those few years before, during and after senior year in high school. People hear JOYSTICK and say, “Hey, I can be in that band.”
JOYSTICK and “Heavy Chevy” probe work-love-war-play with the energy and optimism of youth. One feature song, “American Breakfasto,” is the soundtrack for all time surfer Jason “Ratboy” Collins in the classic video The Bliss. Every song on this album has been featured in one or more compilation CDs.
JOYSTICK lost Zach right before their first national tour and instead our buddies Josh and Sean joined and went east. One bad thing was at the LESS THAN JAKE show, in Jacksonville, first show of the tour; third song into the set, Sean jumped and seriously dislocated his knee on stage. Ouch! That stopped touring for JOYSTICK and Josh and Sean went home.
Nowadays, the JOYSTICK crew is scattered to the wind, they live on every point of the compass and every once in a while the wind will blow one of them through our door, it always an occasion to joyfully reminisce. JOYSTICK is a memory we all share.

It means the the spirit of Joystick isn't dead. It just has sore joints, a bridled ego, and a receding hair line. Probably from all the bleaching back in the 90's.
