“My objective is to touch as many people as I can by doing what I love the most…..singing”. As a little girl Joy always found a reason to sing. Whether it was in a choir, a closet by herself, or with family and friends, this “songstress” was determined to share her God-given talent with anyone that would listen. Since she was nine her mother insisted that she had a twang, which was highly unusual coming out of the mouth of a girl from the Bronx, New York. At the age of ten Joy started taking opera lessons to further perfect her vocal ability and continued for two and a half years.
At the age of nineteen Joy began singing in various Jazz clubs and working with several producers writing songs and singing demo tracks. However, it was not until Joy moved to Georgia in 1993 that she decided she really wanted to pursue a career in music. Although Joy knew singing was her calling, it still took a while to figure out what kind of music she wanted to sing. Joy sang at several social events in Atlanta, including performances for the Mayor of Pine Lake and the Mayor of Atlanta. She also sang in acappella showcases, various weddings and funerals to gain recognition and make her presence known.
In 1997, a friend introduced her to the music of George Strait and Deana Carter. Right then she knew she was in love with country music. In the summer of 1998, she met Johnny Carson and Phyllis Cole with Fiddlin’ John Carson Productions. Working with them she learned some of the history of country music, worked on her craft and got to perform at many benefits and shows around Atlanta. Joy continued to write songs and to keep her voice active by performing at special events and, of course, karaoke. She has made television appearances on Atlanta Live, Peachtree Morning, CNN and 11 Alive’s noonday news. In 2000, she became a finalist on Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star in the country category and won in the R&B category. Later that same year she had the opportunity to share the stage with the one and only David Foster. In May 2001, Joy became Eagle 106.7’s and Kicks 101.5’s representative for the True Value Country Showdown. She performed at Kicks 101.5’s MP3 country showcase at Six Flags Over Georgia. In 2004 and 2005 she was a member of the Atlanta Falcons House Band where she performed at all home games and private events, including two halftime performances with Travis Tritt. She has sung the National Anthem twice for the Falcons and once for the Georgia Force. In 2005, she had the opportunity to share the stage with members of Toto, Steppenwolf, Lynard Skynard, Santana and Journey. Just recently she had the opportunity to open for Ruben Studdard at the Mablehouse Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia.
She is currently working on her own project that will be a blend of country, jazz and R&B. She still performs with a variety of bands here in Atlanta and throughout the southeast. She states “It doesn't matter where you grow up, what color you are, or what people say you should be doing as long as you love it. Music comes from the heart and the soul; it does not have to be geographically or, what some perceive as, genetically correct”.

That's great. Didn't you sing Angel to a cat once? Seems like somebody did. That song comes in handy for a lot of different things. I'm glad you sing it to the kid. It'll be with him always.
