Jessica's Interests
|
| General | music, cooking, being nice to people, educational theory (yeah, it sounds boring... maybe I'll explain why it's actually so amazingly facinating in a blog sometime... or, if you're really curious, e-mail me and I'll answer)
| | Music | Avalon, Carried Away, Newsboys, Carpenters, Kane's River, older BeeGees, Hillsong...
generally anything clean that's not organ music (sorry, Dad!) or choral
| | Movies | A&E's Pride and Prejudice, A&E's Emma, The Truman Show, Ice Age, The Emperor's New Groove, A Cinderella Story (mkay, I have to admit... most Hilary Duff flicks make good Friday night clean entertainment!), Little Dogs on the Prairie, anything funny and clean
| | Television | I Love Lucy, Mulberry (LOVE this so much), Time Tunnel (corny, I know, but that's why it's so good!), generally speaking I like older comedies
| | Books | ANYTHING by Dee Henderson, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Gordon Korman | | Heroes | still can't think of any heroes (beyond the cliche ones)

About me:
I am a second year university student who flip-flops between Waterloo (home) and Brantford (school) at least once a week. Not so much fun, but I love home and I love school (mostly), so it's not so bad!
I enjoy cleaning and organizing and find planning things very calming. That is not to say I am a neat freak or anything - after all, things have to get messy if you are going to clean them up, right?
I am exceedingly proud of my uncle who just got hired to join the Claire Lynch band. Yay for Uncle Jake! He used to play for Kane's River, my favourite Bluegrass band (they are exceptionally good), and he's done lots at Disney World and other places. Remember the name: Jason Thomas... he's going to be famous someday, I just know it! Even if he's not 'famous' famous, he is famous with all of us!

Who I'd like to meet:
I'm not big into being a "fan" like where I just want to shake Peter Furler's hand before I die or anything. I think that's kind of silly and trivial. It would be interesting to meet people who stand for something, such as Stephen Lewis or Thomas King (who both wrote books I read last year), and talk to them one-on-one about their issues to find out more about from where they are coming and why they believe the way they do. For example, King is half Native American and half Italian (I'm pretty sure it's Italian, though it might be something else European, maybe Greek?), and he self-identifies as Native and won't turn his back on that part of his heritage. I would love to find out how he feels about the other half of his heritage and why he is okay with overlooking that half of his history but not the other half. Yep. That's how I think. Maybe I'll write him a letter...
