| General | I'm getting back into and interested in Astronomy; I love viewing the stars at night and learning more about them. My career in IT was born of a hobby with computers from when I was a kid, although after a day of dealing with that, I don't always spend a whole lot of time at home with them. :) My real passion is writing and I'd love to be a writer 'when I grow up!' Martial arts are a fascinating pursuit and I've done a LOT in that area. Experienced everything from traditional Shotokan karate, kickboxing, aki-jujitsu, and a little Hwarang-do. My real success came once I found jujitsu. Being a bigger guy I couldn't jump 6 feet in the air, but jujitsu came naturally. Did some cage fighting and won several different state and national titles including the USKA National titles in 99 and 2000 along with the world championship in 2000. I've taught womens self defense courses and the like.
I love watching movies; I think I should buy stock in Blockbuster for sure. I'm just as good going out and doing something as I am staying home. I'm into my career, but not as much as I was when I started out. I'm doing well and while I wouldn't mind advancing a bit more, I don't want to run the company anymore. Those guys are just always on the road and I don't want to spend constant 80 hour plus weeks at my job; I want to live life!
I'm generally a quieter, intelligent type who prefers to analyze things and talk them over as opposed to just jumping into situations although that depends on the situation and I tend to go with my gut a lot.
I love humor, practical jokes and like to make tough situations light if possible. I have a lot to say, but I know when to say it and when to shut up. I'm also very open, so if I'm in the wrong and see that, I can admit it and turn around....well....usually. :) | | Music | I'm fairly eclectic in music taste. I can listen to classical at times but prefer rock and roll. Listen to some rap and R | | Movies | I watch a TON of movies, but I usually go to the theater only for the bigger movies. Like comedy, action, sci-fi. LOVED the Lord of the Rings movies, being into the books since I was very young. Am a huge fan of those. Not much beats a great movie at a GOOD movie theater! | | Television | Didn't usually watch a lot of TV till more recently. That and the Cox DVR have made the TV and I pretty good friends. Right now, watching Surface, always a fan of CSI and Stargate SG-1. Of course, Sunday if the Broncos are playing you'll find me watching that. | | Books | Anything "geeky" sci-fi and fantasy, Dean R. Koontz, Robert Ludlum, Anne McCaffrey, Tokien of course. Like anything from that to hard core science or just a good plain "book." I try to read whatever I can. On an audio book trip right now, downloading and listening to all kinds of stuff! | | Heroes | Don't really have any "Heroes" per se. Irritates me when people hold up movie stars and many athletes as their "heroes." What, just because they have money or can play a game? To me a hero is someone who lays it on the line for others and is someone you would truly be a good person for emulating. Not too many of those around and those that are usually are just normal people. |

About me:

I'm an IT Manager for a large DOD contractor in Phoenix, AZ. Grew up in the VERY small town of Bagdad, Arizona. I've always been really lucky in life, career, you name it. Got in to martial arts about 13 years ago and had a lot of great experiences. Love animals and currently have a couple of parrots and a couple of cats. I'm pretty outgoing, once I get to know people and love to analyze and debate things with my friends. Focusing on living well and hopefully going to see all the places that I haven't gone before and learning whatever I can about just about everything.

I like to meet people from all over who have similar or different interests. If you speak a different language, let me know! I like people who are confident, true to themselves and just generally good people. If you have problems with the world and everyone else in it, I probably don't want to know you. Everyone has problems but come on.....just deal! I like to travel, so if you know something or are from somewhere it's really cool to travel to, let me know about that as well. I don't have to meet you or anything, but I love to learn so let me know what you know and we'll get along just fine! :)
