About me:

Joplin Public Library
300 S. Main
Joplin, MO 64801
(417) 623-7953
www.joplinpubliclibrary.org

Hours (beginning September 1):
Monday - Thursday 9am to 8pm
Friday - Saturday 9am to 6pm
Sunday 1pm to 5pm

The Joplin Public Library's Teen Department (aka Land of the Unknown) has been in it's current location since February 2007, but was officially opened after remodeling/redecorating in September 2007. Since then, we've been working hard to provide area teens with cool programming and an amazing teen book and audiobook collection. So far so good!

We have regular teen programs like Teen Knitting on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month in the Teen Department, YAAC (Young Adult Advisory Council) meetings the 1st Tuesday of each month and Manga/Anime Club meetings the 3rd Saturday of each month.

For us, a "teen" is anyone in grades 6-12. This means that after school on the day you graduate from 5th grade until after school on the day you graduate from high school, you can participate in any Teen activity.

See you @ the Library!!

P.S. You probably already know this, but just in case: The Joplin Public Library has no control over the ads that appear on our MySpace page nor do we have control over the content of our friends' pages.

P.P.S. If you send us a message via MySpace and we're not friends, please make sure we can message you back (i.e. you're not blocking messages from non-friends) or that we have enough information to friend you or something... There's nothing worse for a librarian than to have a question asked and have no way of getting it answered!

Who I'd like to meet:

Joplin area teens, teen authors, other libraries, and various other cool people.

    Hey there!

Thanks for the add, I would like to tell you about my new book:

    The Tear Collector;

Fans of Twilight, the Vampire Diaries, and other vampire books should prepare for a new kind of vampire—one that feeds off of tears instead of blood. Descended from an ancient line of creatures that gain their energy from human tears, I depend on human sorrow to live. My job as a grief counselor at the hospital provides me with perfect cover to keep this secret safe, and any time a friend needs a shoulder to cry on, I'm there. Only I've grown tired of living a lie and I wants to live like a human, especially now that I've found someone worth fighting for.

Check it out and let me know what you think?

    Best,
    Patrick Jones

Happy Teen Read Week; read beyond reality with The Tear Collector ("an interesting twist on the popular vampire genre, and readers will be caught up in Cass's difficult dilemma of choosing between love or family." – Booklist)
