JRDA (pronounced jay-are-dee-uh) is a Burlington, Vermont, based "progresso" rock quartet specializing in hard-edged music with a sense of humor. Progresso melds progressive rock, jazz, classic rock, and classical ideas and functions into a quirky fusion. JRDA's progresso sound has been compared to that of a wide array of musicians, from the obvious (Frank Zappa meets Primus meets King Crimson meets Rush), to the obscure (Gentle Giant meets Focus meets Voivod).
JRDA was formed in early 2000, and began its life as Jack Tripper. Their process of songwriting and their unique style were honed through gigs and obsessive rehearsing, drawing on each of the members' unique influences. After a line-up change in 2002, JRDA solidified into their current incarnation, stronger and more focused on performing the music they love for a wider audience. The band features Aaron Cowan on lead guitar, Jesse Cowan on bass and vocals, Mike Gaito on vocals and guitar, and Dan Bailey on drums.
JRDA is tickled pink to announce their latest EP release, "things don't matter". This new disc is their first recorded offering featuring their new lineup, and the band has very high hopes for this small yet important release.
JRDA has performed throughout Vermont in venues both large and small and has played successful gigs in New York and Rhode Island. JRDA aims to march forward in their plan for world domination by increasing their strong Internet presence and expanding their fan base to include larger eastern cities, focusing on Providence, RI, Boston, MA, and Portland, ME. "CURRENTLY: THE MEMBERS OF JRDA ARE IN HIDING. DEEP WITHIN THE CAVES OF VERMONT, THEY HAVE BEEN FENDING OFF SLEESTAKS AND WHATEVER ELSE LIVES UP THERE."
