It is everything you'd picture a small South Mississippi town to be. From the miles and miles of farmland to the occupied rocking chairs on every front porch in sight to the echo of gospel bluegrass being played on the neighbors antique turntable. This is truly the heart of the South; Pearl River County, Mississippi.
The southern hospitality shines brighter than the sun itself today as a young man, in his mid-twenties, sits beneath the shaded foyer of Cafe Doxa in downtown Pearl River County. This is no ordinary gentleman, however. No, some call him a 'myth', others a 'legend' Every campfire in recent history has heard about him. Yes, the Backwoods Legend has been exposed and realized... J Remy has arrived!
Following up the successful debut EP, "Rebirth of Hip-Hop," J Remy has taken the spotlight yet again in his sophomore release, "The Backwoods Legend." Back behind the board again is Kene "Ghost" Bell (Grits, Toby Mac, Fred Hammond, Out of Eden) as J Remy, along with friends and company that read off like Grammy nominations, including Kevin Max (of DC Talk) Bonafide (of Grits) and Pigeon John (of LA Symphony) lend their talent to the record.
Escaping from the one-dimensional sound that plagues a plethora of hip-hop artists, J Remy displays his diversity with the soulful R&B ballad, "Remedy" along with the hype anthem "Country Boys" and the ever-unique country hip-hop ho-down in "Bring 'Em Back Down Here." Covering topics from hope to healing, Mississippi to marriage, and fun to faith, J Remy effectively delievers what others want to say, but don't have the guts to record.
Sticking true to form, J Remy has already made waves within the industry by breaking records at popular Christian radio station, RadioU earlier this year, becoming the first-ever independent artist to climb the charts to ..1 on RadioU's Top 10 and 20 Most Requested, beating out artists and bands, including Switchfoot, Lifehouse, Relient K, Toby Mac, and Project 86.
And it's only the beginning!

AS AN ARTIST we have a stage that God has given us. Whether we realize it or not. And one day after all the fun, trials, jokes, laughter and whatever. We are gonna stand before Him and He is gonna ask us what we did fo rHim. And on that day...the games, money, jokes, 401K or whatever ain't gonna mean jack. The last breath we take is coming. And Christ is gonna hold us accoutnable for our deeds. This world and it's lies leaves people empty longing for something more. What are we doing to change it? If you are an artist and you want on the next MiXtApE let me know. It's time to get our minds right and wake up.
