Technique Sessions:
Our counselors will teach you the latest, and most successful, techniques and skills that are being used at the Division I, and Olympic levels. Daily practices will include instruction and review involving basic skills from the neutral position - doubles, singles, high crotches, and more. On the mat, technique sessions will cover from breakdowns, and rides to turns, and pinning combinations from the top position. Stand ups, rolls, switches, short sits, and getting out of legs are all examples of some of the techniques covered from the bottom position.
Strength and Conditioning:
Perhaps no athletes in the world of sport require such a regimented schedule as wrestlers. Our strength and condition workouts will test your mettle, and demand your desire to be the best. Our workouts include the plate workout, circuit training in the weight-room, running stadium stairs, buddy carries, speed work on the track, and several types of endurance conditioning runs. All those, topped off by the JRIC marathon on the final day prior to graduation.
Motivation:
From motivational speeches from our nationally renowned staff of coaches and counselors, to mental attitude and inspirational addresses from former Olympian, and Hall of Fame inductee, J Robinson. (Also highlighted during our camps are Js famous Relaxation and Visualization Speeches.) Our campers receive lessons in life, a game plan for the future, and encouragement for the present, on an every day basis.
Mental Discipline:
True champions only have one mission on a wrestling mat. If your thinking about how tired you are, or what type of day you had in school while your wrestling, its a recipe for mediocrity. Our campers are trained to block out all the outside distractions that can lead to sub-par performance. They will leave us will a new confidence in their skills, and a tunnel vision approach to their lives.
