The first Jrock sampler I put together. It’s a bit uneven simply because I was trying to get as many different styles in as possible to show what the Japanese underground has to offer. I only had one complaint about it and that was over the inclusion of Dragon Ash since they’re a little more popular. Fact is, they’re one of the best rap hybrids to come out of Japan in my opinion. Unless someone can offer a better group in a similar style, it stays. Over all though it does what it was intended to which is a basic introduction into Jrock. Click the image above for download.

About this page – Japan has the third largest music industry in the world. A thriving scene that easily has the talent and diversity as either England or the United States. Sadly the mass of these bands are never heard by western ears. It is our intention here at the Jrock underground to do our part in correcting this over sight.
A handful of bands over the years have found some success in the States or in the UK. Like wise the visual kei scene has found listeners in the west. What we intend on focusing on are the lesser known, talented rock, punk and indie bands that are over looked not only in the west but in their own country.
What you can expect to find here is an ever changing rotation of songs, videos and mixes of Japanese bands that will either introduce you to the countries music, or if you’re already a fan hopefully introduce you to new bands you might not have heard of.
What you will not find here are full albums of any of the groups. Our goal is to introduce you to the bands to support them. To purchase their albums, to buy their merchandise and go to their shows when possible (many of them do tour the US). We will not post full downloads nor links to sites where you can download the albums. We will attempt to put up links where you can find legitimate ways of obtaining the music.
If you like what you hear or see, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know what you like or what you want to see more of. More importantly, if you like what you find, support the artist.

Hey, there was a really cool Jrock guy that I got to learn about when I was in Yokosuka. There's a museum there. If you want some input, I would be willing to do a writeup about him.
