Seems life's always changing for me. I am a country singer/songwriter from Texas. I was recently a DJ at a little club called Mamadous in Glenpool, Ok., where I earned the nick: Texas Stranger. Now I am currently heading to the Nashville star season 6 auditions. Nashville, here I come.
There is a question I get a lot about my knickname. For 1, why Texas since you live in Oklahoma, and 2, what's with Stranger. Easy explanation in itself really. I may live in Oklahoma, but Texas is home where I spent the 1st 25 years of my life. Now Stranger has multiple meanings. Living in Oklahoma for so long, I have become somewhat of a stranger to Texas. I also tend to dissappear from radar from time to time for months at a time. I know you have heard the phrase, "where have you been, stranger", well, I think that refers to me. I hear it quite often. Ain't that right Joe?
I am a songwriter who writes from my heart. Most of my work is Red Dirt style. All of my songs are taken either from personal life experiences, or inspired by family and friends. Either way, they are an extension of my soul that I want to share with the world. I am attempting all of this in spare time from my normal life. I am a carpenter who works in the Tulsa, OK. area. I do love my job, it is a form of art that I rather enjoy doing. Then I have my home life. There is my wife, Bre, my better half, who is one of the biggest inspirations in life. She is the air I breathe. She is a wonderful part of my life, and there is noone that i'd rather
have standing by my side. Then there are our four children, Jimmy, Ana, Devan and Hope. They are also huge inspirations. I see so much of us in them. Children are a very blessed thing. They make you seem so mortal watching them grow, but however, immortalize you for generations to come.
My buddy is my lab mix, Chaka, then we have Jack/Rat terrier, Cuddles, and my Daughters rabbit, Ruby.
To all of the friends and fans I already have, and to the ones yet to come, I care for you all. You are the ones who make my music worth it. To the ones that have auditioned for Nashville Star and succeeded or not, it does not matter what any judge thinks, it's the ones that are listening to you and enjoying your talent. Keep shooting for the stars. I know I will. Hope to see you there. God bless and love to all.
