Quick up date- Mascot's Distance's song ave b(track 4 of MD's new album) is getting spin time on Albany's radio station WEXT(http://www.exit977.org/) ( who's own Dave Michaels has called album "a master piece!").
Also, we've got a very hopeful response from 90.7 WFUV about the possibility of some spin time..and are also waiting to hear from Los Angeles's KCRW about the same..will keep u posted...
What is MD, we like to think of our selves as City slick meets hillbilly soul- an Alternative Americana-Soft Pop quarter composed of drums, bass, guitar and piano created and fronted by Jordon Andrew. Please visit www.cdbaby.com/cd/mascotsdist3 to hear our brand new album.
Anyway, enough of about Mascot's Distance and more about JR the Songwriter...Brought up by Herman Melville, Benjamin Hoff, Bob Dylan and David Letterman, Jordon considers himself a humanist musician.
Having worked with Taye Diggs, John Legend, Pete Yorn, Russel Simins, Brittany Murphy, Karren Allen and Ian Gillian, Jordn majored in music at Syracuse and received a Master’s Degree in music education from Columbia University. As well Jordon has been a featured Participant in many ASCAP and BMI workshops over the years.
As a solo artist and fronting his band Mascot’s Distance, Jordon is performing his songs in NYC clubs such as The Living Room, Crash Mansion, Arlene’s Grocery, The Cutting Room, BB Kings and The Bitter End. He is currently recording his second album with the group. While his first instrument was drums, Jordon’s primary instrument has become the piano; additionally playing fearful Hammond B3 organ, Crunching Rhodes, saxophone and guitar. His musical influences range from Steely Dan, Bob Dylan, Joanna Newsom, Bud Powell, The Band and Billy Joel to Harry Neilson and The Beatles.
His production work helps to foster the talent of many local up-and-coming artists, including Sean Garvey with his debut album, Small Town Graffiti, and Manhattan’s Night Rats first EP. Additionally, Jordon has produced songs for more established artists such as Pete Yorn and Russell Simins of the John Spencer Blues Explosion.
Mascot’s Distance’s(www.myspace.com/mascotsdistance) two albums can be purchased at cd baby, I tunes and Other Music in New York City.
