The body of Christ has been given a gift in Bishop John R. Thompson, Sr., a man of integrity and self discipline who has a deep respect and love for all humanity. Born on April 23, 1959 in Alberta, VA to Robert Sr. and Louise E. Thompson, he answered the call of salvation by giving his life to Christ at the young age of 15, on June 4th, 1974. The night of his baptism even the enemy showed up! He was standing in the water waiting to be baptized, when the light fixture which hung over the pool was accidentally struck by the man of God as he motioned to speak before baptizing him. This motion caused the entire light fixture to fall into the water while still plugged into the electrical socket. All watched the man of God reach down into the water, retrieve the light fixture, and place it back in its rightful position, while he stood in the water, and without incident was then baptized in the name of Jesus!
Bishop Thompson serves as founder and Senior Pastor of Calvary Temple Christian Center Ministries, Inc. which is one of the most progressive and fastest growing ministries in the city since August of 1995. This multi racial, anointed church has increased in membership and on any given Sunday you will find the sanctuary, which seats 1000, filled. Bishop is also the founder of the International Royal Priesthood Fellowship, which is a fellowship of churches with ministries presently in US as well as Jamaica.
Bishop along with his wife traveled to Rome Italy with the Joint College of African American Bishops where he received the 2nd certification for the Office of Bishop, with the elevation to Bishop-elect under the Joint College of African American Bishops in March 2004. He had the awesome privilege of being in service with Pope John Paul II at Vatican City. They were also special guests to the Vatican and were the dinner guests of Ambassador to the Vatican. This eight-day conference was where he witnessed Rome like as unto the apostles. The Proclamation Service electing him as Bishop of the IRPF was held on January 20, 2008.
His local television and radio broadcasts, which are Statewide, is noised about as one of the most watched and talked about in the state of CT!! Combined they reach thousands weekly. His annual “No More Drama Fellowship Conference” totals just over $100,000 in gifts and vouchers. Through the blessings of God this conference has facilitated such gifts as rent payments, credit card bills, cell phone payments, grocery vouchers, haircuts to single mothers with male children, utility payments and much more for anyone in attendance (the saved, unsaved, members and non members alike). Thompson Ministries inc., which has radio broadcasts in various cities throughout the United States, Bishop Thompson along with Lady Thompson entrepreneurs having purchased and sold over $1 Million dollars in real estate and they continue to pursue wise investments for the Kingdom.
Bishop Thompson is a family man. His wife, 1st Lady Jenice R. Thompson has been saved since February of 1972. He is in love with her deeply and if you’re around him for just a few minutes, he will let you know it because he talks about her all the time. Together they have two sons, John R. Thompson, II and Justin R. Thompson. Bishop believes in a lifestyle of worship where your decisions and choices should worship the Lord. As he states over and over again you can live in the prophecy of your destiny and not in the character of your environment.

Because when testings come (and they WILL come "IF" you are Walkng right), WE will either TRUST God's purposes and FIND Peace, OR "we" can Trust in our OWN plans, start walking in the "Vanity of our mind's, thereby developing a NEGATIVE OUTLOOK or DISPOSITION and thus DEVELOPING A BITTER, and CYNICAL heart. We may NOT like our siuation (and in MOST cases "we" WON'T), But because WE Are CHRISTIANS; because we are a "chosen generation; because we are a royal priesthood; because we are a Holy nation and a peculiar people...WE... "SHOULD"... LOVE...GOD and WE...MUST...TRUST..."HIS"...WILL FOR, OUR LIVES!
The Bible says "And going a little further, He threw Himself upon the ground on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me, nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire" (Matt.26:39 AMP).
The Bible also says "For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome" (Jer.29:11 AMP).
