Jimmy Buffet Pink Floyd Classical REM Dresden Dolls Just about any 60's or 70's rock. Truth be told, I just do not sit around and listen to music, and playing it as background is more of a distraction to me. I do listen to NPR a lot, I guess I would rather hear someone talking at me than singing at me.
Movies
To many to list but to shorten it to a few I found remarkable:
The Lord of the Ring: I first read the series when I was about 15 year old, and have re-read them even couple of years since. I still have those 25 year old paperbacks I first bought with my allowance. The movies even if not anywhere near complete certainly did the books justice.
Monster: Charlize Theron, in an Oscar-winning performance, is an emotionally stunning bit of reality that got through the Hollywood filter that produces a happy ending instead of the truth. I have read some of the Aileen Wuornos story which was disturbing enough and remember some of it when it was in the news but this movie manages to tell that story in all its grisly details without being completely overwhelming.
Monsters Ball: This was a good one, and not only because we get to see Haley’s tits, and YES, she is a pleasure to look at with or without clothes. Of course, I did not see the movie until after she won the Oscar, but I thought she did not seem all that thrilled about winning. Then I saw the movie, and I think I understood part of her less than happy reaction. They, the Media, was making a great big deal about the first black woman to win an Oscar, but to win it she had to spend a lot of time naked in front of the camera. Do I think she needed to be naked to win an Oscar? No, she would have won it for something sooner or later, she is that good. Well, see the movie, she may have been naked but there was a lot more to her performance than bare skin.
I just realized I started doing this a long time ago and lost interest. I guess there are not just that many remarkable movies.
Television
I wish I could say do not watch much TV, being the true opiate of the masses of modern times, but here it goes:
Battlestar Galactica, The West Wing, Law and Order (SUV and CI), CSI, NCSI, Lost, ER (What is with all the show with just letters for a name?), Monk, The Dead Zone, Farscape (curse you Sci-fi channel for canceling this show), Dr. Who? new and old, MythBusters, South Park, SG-1, Without a Trace, House, The Dresden Files, just about anything on the History or Discovery channels when I cannot find anything else to watch. Although, I must say Discovery has been showing a lot of those shows on UFO's and paranormal events which really do not belong there or maybe I need to find something else to do.

About me:
About Me? Since, I have never had a problem talking about myself or any other subject for that matter, I could say lotsa things about who I think I am, but that could never possible answer the question, who to YOU think I am.
For example: I like to say I am "A Virtual Cornucopia of Virtually Unless Information" which seems to have led others into an unjust accusation that I am a Know-it-all or even a Smartass. I do not believe I fit either category simply because sometimes I can be as clueless as anyone else. Those times are normally in the morning before coffee.
Another example: I have been called unromantic because I do not buy flowers. It is true I do not buy flowers; I grow them. I just cannot see the point of buying flowers when I spend a lot time working in the yard to produce the flowers. Is it my fault these things are seasonal? (Some would say it is my fault, like everything else.)
I am a Computer geek who is somewhat active out of doors. I have been doing more cooking (I do have my belly to support, after all) and other indoor things than gardening, or hunting lately.
My core reading material is SF&F, and history, but I never really know what I will pick up next. I have been reading a lot of History and Historical Fiction lately. See my Books and Books II Blog.
I tend to have a lot to say about things, so if you ask me a question I will answer. You may not want my answer after I give it, but you will get an answer.
I do not have kids of my own, but there is a child I live with and the child's mother asserts that I must clam her because since she has developed a sense of humor that closely matches my own which is a good thing unless she is turning it onto me. The kid is off to College now, thank the gods, but she has this habit of coming home every weekend which seems to defeats the purpose of leaving home.
Since, I cannot get away with this at home; I will assert my 5th amendment right against self incrimination when it comes to the child's mother. I cannot get trouble for that, you think? (And you'd be wrong, but...) She is first on my Friend’s list, but she does not add many people and rarely logs on so if you get the urge, sent her a message. Maybe we can get her more involved out here.
I do have pets. (About the Animals Blog) No, I do not treat my animals like kids, and no I do not dress them up I could never torture them like that, but they are spoil and sometimes demanding of attention, but always demanding food because they never get fed, just ask them they will tell you.
Who I'd like to meet: Well, I don’t know really; just people, regular type people. I can tell you who I don’t want to meet and that is the little girls with the Web Cams. Don’t get me wrong, if there are easily accessible nudes I’ll look, I am a guy, but I am not adding you to my friends list nor will I be becoming a member on your website.

Although you may notice that most of my friends are women, I am not here trying to Hook-up or anything of that nature. I would not make a request if I did not see something interesting on your page and yes a nice set breast in a picture can qualify as interesting. I mostly just chat with those who will talk back to me in, what I hope is, a well reasoned manner. The truth is I have always had mostly female friends and, really, why would I go around browsing guys pages? I am straight and a guy. So, I guess you could say I have certain prejudice when it comes to looking for friends.
