    J. Scott -- Fantasy Writer's Interests
Generalwriting and reading fantasy, strategic gaming, D&D, native prairie restoration, vegetarian cooking, Chicago Bears football, psychological studies (what makes people tick?), discussions of world politics and why the world is so messed up, doing complicated financial deals that benefit both parties, successful marketing and sales strategies, not screwing people over to make a deal happen.
MusicI enjoy almost everything except the styles I don't enjoy.
But if pressed -- R&B and old-school rap to move to, New Age instrumental music for writing, and some metal (Evanescense comes to mind) when I feel like kicking ass!
MoviesAnything that creates an environment with realistic characters that I actually believe. TLOTR was perhaps the greatest three movies ever made.
TelevisionLOST, and any reality show where I feel I get to see people grow psychologically. Love my "Survivor" too!
BooksI'm going with authors -- George R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, R.A. Salvatore, Terry Brooks, Steven Erickson, Stephen Donaldson, Ed Greenwood, Tolkien, Tim Lebbon, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Tracy Hickman, Margaret Weis, David Gemmel, Eldon Thompson -- you know, this will go much faster if I just say EVERYONE in the fantasy genre!

Other varied authors too: Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, Anne Rice, Anne Tyler . . . too many to list really.

About me:
Thanks for stopping by -- I'm glad you're here!!

If you read fantasy, you can be a part of something really cool by visiting my website therivenbladesaga.com. Over 21,000 visitors and 57,000 page-views!!! It is WAY cooler than this site -- because real experts on web-design and art took part in it!

I focus on the reality of contracts and productivity improvement projects when the sun is up, but when the sun goes down I dive into a world where magic exists, strange creatures lurk in the shadows, and heroic characters fight seemingly impossible odds to save their societies and their worlds from unstoppable evil.

I have a super literary agent, Matt Bialer, who represents such authors as Kevin Anderson, Robert Newcomb, Tad Williams, Tracy Hickman, C.J. Cherryh,Eldon Thompson and Patrick Rothfuss among many others.

Check out my writing by visiting my website for PATH OF PERIL: BOOK ONE IN THE SAGA OF THE RIVEN BLADE. If you like it -- SIGN THE PETITION so I can keep you updated and tell all your friends!

Here's NEW comments made on the site:

“As an author as well, I understand the importance of exposure. If your series is entertaining, then it should be on the book shelves where it belongs. This is a very intriguing tale and publishers and booksellers are doing a terrible disservice to their customers by not giving this book the attention it deserves.” -- D.N. Simmons, author of "The Knights of the Darkness Chronicles".

“I want you to know that rarely does someone catch my attention with a Myspace friend invitation, but you sir should be published.. The excerpts from your new book are incredible and I would LOVE to be notified the day this hits the shelves... another hardcover to add to my fantasy collection for sure!” – Greg C.

“Very intriguing. So far I've only finished the prologue and chapter one--I WILL be reading the other two chapters--but I find that my interest is definitely piqued. Please, do keep me informed of your progress, and I will most definitely add you to my friends on myspace.com.” – Shannon B.

“Nice writing - we need more talented FS writers with a mind for character development and interaction. I love the tease and the political interaction looks intriguing.” – C. Davis A.

“I have really enjoyed reading your book so far and I can't wait to read more. Not only will I read it, but my three teenagers will enjoy it as well.” – Jennifer H.

“I am a huge fantasy fan and reading the excerpts have made me decide I want to delve into Mr. Nelson's world. I can't wait to start reading Path of Peril! I am also an aspiring fantasy writer and sharing with other people's writing inspires me more to write.” -- Michele

“Path of Peril is very interesting and fast paced the characters are well developed and three dimensional. A real page turner. I would love to read the rest bring on the sequels!” – Evelyn C.

“I enjoyed for the most part all of the prologue and chapters. I thoroughly enjoy the interaction of characters and the characters built for the most part and I believe that it will become an amazing series.” – David H.

“I lost a night's worth of sleep because I had a hard time putting the story down! I read the excerpts and am very eager to read more! I can say that some fantasy books have me bored from the 1st chapter but this one had my attention from the get go! Love how the author puts great detail into describing the characters and their surroundings! The story flows nice and easy! A MUST read!” – Michele R.

“I love the prologue and the first chapter. I wouldn't read the other two, because I would prefer to read them when I get the book, make them last longer. You have a good balance of details, your descriptions are rich. The plot sounds interesting enough as well. Magic and swords, but with a unique twist.” – Jack P.

“From what I have read so far, this series promises to be thoughtful, provocative, and intriguing. I appreciate the opportunity to read your work and I look forward to reading the story in full after it is published. Thank you again and best of luck to you.” – Josh U.

“People love drama! I liked the theatre-type growing of the characters that is implemented in your storylines. Facial expressions, body language and details of character's actions and re-actions are important for me to visualize what's happening with their development (90% of how we humans communicate is through "body language") You've done an excellent job of this! I really hope you get this put together. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the shelf! And heck if you make it to Dayton Ohio would love to meet you for a book signing!(hint hint put it on your agent's list) Good Luck!” – Eric D.

“I really enjoyed the previews and I absolutely cannot wait to read it when it comes out on the shelves. Such a wonderful style that in itself is remarkable. Love it, for it is definitely the type fantasy novel that I could sink myself into.” – Mary R.

“I eagerly await when I can purchase a copy and keep it on the keeper shelf. It's hard to find good fiction!” – Kally Jo S.

“I found this to be a very interesting read. I have had few chances to see books from both sides of a war. Usually an author just rights his favorite side and leaves it to that. This would definitely be one of the books in my collection.” – Michael W.

“Wow, what an incredible tale of magic and wizards. It's an amazing saga that holds you spellbound from the beginning and will definitely captivates the reader with it's mesmerizing actions.” – Ana Luisa S.
Who I'd like to meet:
People who share ideas, like to make things happen, support each other's creative projects, and want to create cool stuff in any kind of artistic medium.

People who are passionate about fantasy books. People who want to be a part of the publishing process of getting a book to print.

If I sent you a "friends" request it likely means that we have shared interests in fantasy writing, art, or the writing process, and I'd like to connect with you on those interests.

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!

There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.

Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."

And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

Please help Walter Koenig, "Chekov from Star Trek TOS", Get His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Walter has been nominated for his star and waltersstar.com has raised the money to manufacture and install the star (Thanks!). All Walter needs now is the votes of the Walk of Fame Committee.
Write to the Walk of Fame Committee a polite letter in your own words, why you think Walter should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. These NEED to be letters from each individual fan in the fan's own words. Not copies, Not form letters, Not chain letters.

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my 2nd horror novel SACRIFICE is now in stores everywhere, including Amazon.com! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride! Here are a couple reviews it's gotten so far:

“SACRIFICE is a full frontal assault on your senses. It is a dark, brutal, bloody and terribly frightening book. Everson went deep into some dark abyss to bring this book to the light of day.... I highly recommend SACRIFICE.”
—Famous Monsters of Filmland

“John Everson manages in SACRIFICE to dispense buckets of blood, provide edgy perversity, and walk the tenuous tightrope of horror and sex without falling: It’s rather an amazing feat.” –Hell Notes
