Bio
The singer, guitar teacher and Songwriter John Scrivo, born in Sao Paulo Brazil, son of the well known Rio de Janeiro fotographer Sascha Harnisch, enjoyed the feeling of Bossa Nova and the soccer euphoria at the beach of the Copacabana as a child. .... For family reasons he grew up with two mother languages, Portuguese and English. His Austrian stepfather born in Vienna, a connoisseur of the Jazz Music, brought him to Big Bands, Vocal Groups and last but not least to Gypsy Swing. .... After his so called deportation to Germany (who wants to live in a cold country) he attended an English High School in Hamburg. A schoolmate one day played "She loves you" from the Beatles and from that day on his musical life changed completely. .... He bought an electrical guitar and rehearsed all the solos played by the "The Fab Four". An interesting musical mixture was born now. .... John Scrivo played in innumerable jazz- rock and cover bands until the day where he discovered his talent for songwriting. His harmonic and fastidious Songs are catchy tunes, which sometimes remind us of John Lennon or simply John Scrivo. .... Well I'm the band. I write the songs and lyrics and merge them together, hopefully as good as possible, in my little home studio. I play all instruments on my recordings. .... I love writing songs. I'm addict for it and can't miss it. When the recording sessions are finished, I export my songs into my notebook and use the sound for my gigs. .... It's a kind of a "semi" playback. As I mentioned before I'm the Band. These are the instruments heard at the moment on my recordings: Gibson J-160, Gerrit van Bergeijk Dreadnought, Jürgen Volkert Selmer like the one Joscho Stephan has "a beauty", Ibanez George Benson Signature, Strato and Jazzman bass by Stevens (a local luthier in Munich), a Vintage "Les Paul" and 2 digital Pianos (Yamaha). I still have enough place for few guitars ! -
Influences
I'm opened for all music styles. But the artists that impressed me pretty much, for the last twenty years, or should I say still give me goosebumps are The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Stevie Wonder, 10CC, Billy Joel, Django Reinhardt, The Manhattan Transfer, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, John Pizzarelli and many others not mentioned here. -
Sounds Like
People say my voice is a mixture of John Lennon and George Harisson. On some songs it sounds more like John on others like George. I confirm it's absolute pure, real and authentic product of John Scrivo. Please send me your feedback. Don't hesitate.
