I love music (virtually any genre), playing in bands, camping with my family, fishing, and chasing little white balls around pretty golf courses. I LOVE to cook. I'm a food network-a-holic.
Music
CCM (Whiteheart, Matt Kearney, Code of Ethics, Audio A, Jennifer Knapp, Starfield, Whiteheart, David Crowder, Salvadore, Burlap to Cashmere (saw them at the Myrtle Beach House of Blues...HUGE!), Classic Rock (Yes, Rush, Bob Seger (local boy makes good!), Led Zep, Van Halen, Peter Frampton, etc.), Blues (John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy), R&B (Otis Rush, Aretha Franklin, anything Motown!), newer Country (Montgomery Gentry, Garth Brooks), Jazz (John Coltrane, Bird, Diz), Impressionistic (Debussey), Gospel (Fred Hammond, Deitrick Haddon)... Just about anything except "cry in your beer" Country. That stupid "shoes for mama" song at Christmas should be banned!!! However, Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying" is total genius. Right now I'm listening to "Riders In the Sky"!Geddy Lee Rush bass line to YYZ
I love movies that require you to "piece things together" like National Treasure, The Divinci Code, Paycheck, or the Sixth Sense. I love classic war movies like Midway, The Big Red One, Force Ten... Comedy is also huge. The classics: The Blues Brothers, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Kelly's Heros (war AND comedy!) and now "Wild Hogs". I almost peed my pants!
Television
Well, it's like this- I barely have television anymore. We decided that high-speed internet was more important, so we dumped our cable package for high speed (no way I'm paying $100 a month to Comcast for both!) Now we only get local networks (useless), accessvision (even more useless unless my kids are on it), PBS (two channels!) and USA Network (YES!!!) I'm a total Burn Notice freak. Spies? Explosions? What do you want? Between that and House marathons, I need nothing else (though I miss the Food Network terribly!)
Mostly non-fiction. My recent reads have been "Blue Like Jazz" (Donald Miller), "Kitchen Confidential" (Anthony Bourdain), and the CIA Cookbook (I'm working on my stocks & broths). I'm getting ready to read "Velvet Elvis" (Rob Bell).
Heroes
Jesus. My grandfather. 1984 Detroit Tigers (no real superstars, just a great team effort, the way baseball is supposed to be!)

About me: I'm Lisa's husband, and daddy to Jessica, Sarah, James, and Nicholas. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, and do my best to serve God through showing love to everyone I meet (although I do have bad days :)). For a living, I serve a church through writing and leading services of worship, and leading an incredible, ever-changing student ministry. My goal with students is to lead them to a relationship with Jesus, and to help them survive the teen years as they prepare for the rest of their lives (not always easy!)
