Born in Baltimore City, Joseph Robert grew up in the heart of the city, the infancy of hip-hop, and in the midst of urban America. In his earliest memories, he sang to whatever song came on the radio. Raised by his mother, who sang in her church choir, music wasn't too far from the heart. In the beginnings of his childhood in school, pre-k, he realized he didn't sound quite like everyone else when he sang, and even then realizing he had talent. As a pre-teen he found a great inspiration to him, who came in the form of a beautiful, brown-skinned sister whose voice resonated in his soul, even until this day, Ms. Lauryn Hill. "I was 12 years old when I saw her first on the movie, Sister Act II, I was a little disappointed cause I thought I would never hear her again...then came, 'If I Ruled The World,' and instantly I knew it was her." Developing his skill through listening to her controlled riffs, and her textured mezzo-soprano, he made the style apart of his own. A few other artists that influenced his vocal style are, D'Angelo, Maxwell and Faith Evans. Since the age of 16 he has performed at many venues, of almost all genres, from strictly hip-hop sets to soft and hard rock ones. "I believe that it's very important to keep your mind open when performing in different types of venues, and not be afraid of any genre. Music is music to me and I love it as it is, un-separated by genres. Mr. Robert is currently performing with the band “Trip”. He’s also working on his highly-anticipated second project.
