Bio:

Most people who live in Arizona aren’t born here, but simply transplants from other states. This is not the case with up and coming lyricist J-Story. He was born in Arizona; he attended high school in Cottonwood, Arizona while pursuing dreams to become a professional football star, when injuries ended those ambitions, he turn to his long time passion of songwriting, something he always had a knack for. He clearly understood from day one that his songwriting skills alone wouldn’t take him far if he couldn’t perfect the other elements of becoming a successful rap-artist in a music industry where music has become nothing short of disposable, and that epiphany alone has taken him far, and will continue to. Released from the “Arizona Department of Corrections” after serving a three year sentence for “Sales of Narcotic Drugs”, and being released on December 1st 2008, J-Story (born Jonathan Scott Story) is determine to beat the odds against convicted felons, and become a successful member of society through his passion for music, and love for the culture of Hip-Hop. Once free J-Story immediately began pursuing his career as a rap-artist, in a starving Southwest Hip-Hop community, and saw a great response right away. With the release of his first two mix tape collaborations with “ROC”, titled “Local Ambitions” Volumes 1 & 2, the buzz began, and after successfully completing his parole, and gaining more flexibility in his schedule to record and perform, he started recording his first solo “EP” work to be titled “Faithful to my flow” with the very well received lead single “Bird City”. This work was executively produced & engineered by “Q” of “Lights Out Productions”, straight out of Chicago, with certified experience in producing for many well know artist from not only the Midwest scene (Crucial Conflict, Criminal Minds, Crystal La’Juene & more), but also the southwest (J-Story, Rizzy Boi & More) and even California’s west coast scene (Yung Blessd, Blvd City Music, & More). “Faithful to my flow” was released on “November 14th 2009” all while J-Story gained performing rights to his first live performance at the well-known “Venue of Scottsdale”, and opened up the showcase for legendary hip-hop artist “E-40”. This show proved to be a great asset to the experience of J-Story’s up and coming reputation on the local Arizona scene of hip-hop. Since then J-Story has opened at showcases for the likes of legendary “Wu Tang Clan” group member “Killa-Priest”, Def-Jam Recording artist “Willy Northpole”, Mo-Thugs member/CEO “Big Caz”, Money Power Respect group “Cut Throat Logic”, and also performed at many local venues, bars, clubs, and public attractions. J-Story is the self-proclaimed “Arizona’s 1 & ONLY” based upon pure originality, and constant evolution of artistry, from songwriting, sound, and live performance, to overall brand in general. He began composing lyrics at the age of 13 maybe earlier (as he best recalls), and never could stop, it was as he put it “my escape from reality, while finding ways to deal with it, maintain my sanity while doing so”.
