Red Light Productions was formed by a young producer/songwriter/lyricist named Dustin "Big D" Louallen. His love of music traces all of the way back to the early days of Elementary school. Big D, and many around him, realized that he had an ear for music. Not many five and six year old kids would listen to a song and pick apart every instrument and melody in the beat. For years, this talent was set on the back burner. During his late middle school and early high school years, Big D began to develop into a poet. Being a real big R&B fan, he wrote a lot of poetry dedicated to women and family. Little did he know this hobby would turn into songwriting. Around his sophomore year in high school, D started getting real big on hip-hop. Still picking apart patterns in every beat he heard, he began picking apart lyrics. This is where he gained the most respect for artists as lyricists. Yes, in this day and age, there are many successful artists out there who aren't lyricists, but at the end of the day people can weed out the best from the worst. His favorite artists were Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, and Eminem for their unique styles, and incredible metaphors and punch lines. You see Big D isn't your average guy from South Carolina. He's a very unique person who does things in many unique ways, and a lyricist with a unique style along with nice lyrics appealed a lot stronger to him than the average top chart artist. As a result of being so amazed by incredible styles and punch lines, Big D began writing his own lyrics. No, they weren't the greatest in the world, but they weren't average. Every line that he wrote was a punch line. He just got straight to the point. It was then where hip-hop became a big thing in his area. Along with a few friends (Doug "D-Nasty b.k.a. Young Child" Louallen & Cedric "C-Rush"), a group was formed call the J-Town Click (JTC) representing a group of friends who grew up in Jefferson, SC. Big D was more of the organizer of the group. He was never a freestyler, but participated in many battles. His secret was to pick some one about an hour before the battle, write a hot 16, and blow his opponent away. As time went by, the JTC began recording songs over many other artists' instrumentals. After a while, Big D started getting tired of recording over someone else's instrumental. That's when he grew in interest in beat making. Time went by, and Big D became pretty good at making these beats. It was then when he put his talents together as a beat maker, songwriter, lyricist, and advisor to those who he recorded with that didn't have an ear to recognize the differences between certain techniques to become a music producer. As the years went by, Big D began to spread away from the other members of the JTC to focus more on being a producer. He met guy by the name of Ryan "Sho" Thomas who shared some of the same passions of music that he did, and they also shared some of the same unique ways of living life. The public saw their actions as, simply stated, "Why?" To this day, Big D and Sho still collaborate in music and causing chaos in their surrounding areas. Later, Big D decided that he needed an identity that symbolized him, his music, and where he was from. This is where the name Red Light Productions came into play. No, its not Red Light as in the Red Light District. You see, Jefferson, SC is a VERY small town. It is straight up country. A lot of people used to make fun of it because of its sole traffic light downtown. Big D took that joke and flipped it around by naming his productions group Red Light Productions. Its not really a record group, but in a way it is. The main focus is helping artists with their craft by offering great beats, and giving them proper advice when it comes to the lyrics they write, what they record, how they record, and even how they perform if they perform live. Red Light is a young group, and is far from reaching its prime. Big D and Red Light Production is one of the many who are out to prove to many that hip hop is NOT dead!!
